Privacy Policy

Metro Home Interiors, formerly Metro Wardrobes, gathers and processes your personal information in accordance with this privacy notice and in compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018. This notice explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it and the rights you have over it.

1. Who we are

Metro Home Interiors is a trading name of Metro Kitchens & Bedrooms Limited ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales under company number 09471616. Our registered office, workshop and showroom are at Unit 29, Hallmark Trading Estate, Fourth Way, Wembley, London HA9 0LB. We previously traded as Metro Wardrobes. We are the data controller for personal data collected through metrohomeinteriors.co.uk, by telephone, at our showroom and during home design visits. 2. The information we collect

We only collect the personal data we need to answer your enquiry, design and make your furniture and look after it under our guarantee. Depending on how you deal with us, that is:

  • your name, postal address, email address and telephone number;
  • your postcode and the details you give us about your room and your project when you request a design visit, a quotation or a brochure;
  • measurements, photographs and drawings of the room taken by our designer or surveyor at your home, and the design, specification and quotation we prepare for you;
  • records of our correspondence with you by email, telephone, the chat widget on this site and messaging services;
  • payment records. Card payments are processed by our payment providers; we do not store your full card details;
  • images of your finished furniture, where you have agreed to this in your order;
  • technical data when you browse this site, such as your IP address, browser type, device and the pages you visit, collected through cookies and similar technologies by our platform provider, Shopify, and our analytics tools.

We collect this information when you complete a form on this site, contact us through the chat widget, telephone or email us, visit our showroom, book a design visit, place an order or leave a review.

3. How we use your data and our legal basis

  • To answer your enquiry and arrange your free home design visit: the steps you ask us to take before entering into a contract.
  • To survey your room, prepare your design and quotation, manufacture, deliver and install your furniture and honour our 10-year guarantee: performance of our contract with you.
  • To follow up a quotation and to keep in touch about your project: our legitimate interest in running our business.
  • To send you design ideas, offers and news: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us.
  • To run a competition you have entered: your consent.
  • To keep accounting, tax and guarantee records: our legal obligations.
  • To keep the site secure and understand how it is used: our legitimate interests, and your consent for non-essential cookies.

We never sell your personal data and we do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling that has a legal or similarly significant effect on you.

4. Who we share it with

Your furniture is designed, made and fitted by our own employed team, so your project details stay within the company. We share personal data only where it is needed to do the work or run the business, with:

  • Shopify, which hosts this website and processes orders and payments made through it;
  • our payment providers and bank, for card and bank-transfer payments;
  • the providers of our email, booking, chat and messaging tools;
  • Google, for reviews, maps and analytics, and our marketing agencies where you have consented to marketing;
  • suppliers and couriers where a part has to be delivered to your address;
  • our accountants, insurers and professional advisers, and regulators or courts where the law requires.

Every processor acting for us works under our instructions and a contract that protects your data. Some providers process data outside the UK; where they do, the transfer is protected by UK-approved safeguards such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision.

5. How long we keep your data

  • Where you have bought furniture from us, we keep your details, design, specification and photographs of the finished work for 10 years from installation so that we can honour our 10-year guarantee, and accounting records for the period required by law.
  • Where you have made an enquiry or received a quotation but not placed an order, we keep your details for 24 months from our last contact, then delete them.
  • Where you have consented to marketing, we keep your details until you withdraw consent or ask us to stop.
  • Where you have entered a competition and not consented to marketing, we delete your details within one month of the result.

6. Keeping your data safe

We take every reasonable measure to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction. Our website and payment processing are hosted on Shopify's secured platform, access to customer records is limited to the staff who need it, and our design, survey and installation files are held on access-controlled systems.

7. Your rights

You have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, and to be told why we process it, which categories of data are involved, who it has been shared with, how long we keep it and where it came from if not from you. You also have the right to have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected, to ask us to erase your data or restrict its processing where the law allows, to receive the data you gave us in a portable format, to object to processing based on our legitimate interests, and to object to direct marketing at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, email contact@metrohomeinteriors.co.uk. We may ask you to confirm your identity before we act, to keep your data secure, and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

8. If you choose not to give us your data

You are not obliged to provide personal information to us. Because we need it to arrange a design visit, prepare a quotation and perform our contract with you, we will not be able to provide those services without it.

9. Cookies

This site uses cookies: small text files stored on your device. Essential cookies make the site work, including the shopping basket, security and the cookie banner itself. Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use the site, and marketing cookies allow us and our advertising partners to measure campaigns and show relevant advertising. Non-essential cookies are set only when you accept them in the cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time through the banner or your browser settings. Refusing cookies may limit some features of the site.

10. Changes to this notice

We may update this notice from time to time. The current version is always published on this page.
