Timeless wardrobe doors inspired by traditional British interiors: shaker, lined shaker, mock in-frame, raised panel and beaded designs, made to measure in our London workshop and painted in the colour you choose.
Classic doors belong in Victorian and Edwardian terraces, Georgian conversions and any room with original cornice and skirting, because their proportions were drawn for those rooms. Most are built as five-piece frames in painted timber or painted MDF, with brass knobs, cup handles or unlacquered ironmongery. They sit as well on a loft wardrobe as on a hinged run, and they are the doors we use for the Heritage master suite.

Choosing a wardrobe door style can be a little overwhelming, especially when there are so many finishes and details to consider. Here are some of the questions we’re most often asked about our Classic Collection. If you’re still unsure, your Metro designer can talk you through the options during your free home visit.
Shaker, Lined Shaker, Mock In-Frame, Raised Panel and Beaded. Shaker is a flat recessed centre panel inside four square rails, with no moulding or ornament. Lined Shaker adds a fine bead line inside those rails. Mock In-Frame uses shaker proportions detailed so the door reads as a traditional in-frame cabinet. Raised Panel sets the centre panel proud of the frame with a moulded edge. Beaded runs a fine bead moulding around the inside edge of the frame.
A Shaker door is a plain frame with a flat recessed centre panel. A Mock In-Frame door keeps those same proportions but is detailed so the finished run reads as traditional in-frame joinery, where each door sits within a visible surrounding frame. It gives a period home the in-frame look without the cost of building a true in-frame carcase.
A Lined Shaker is a shaker frame with one additional fine bead line running inside the rails. It is the door to choose when a plain shaker reads slightly bare against the architecture — typically Victorian and Edwardian terraces with deep skirtings, picture rails and cornicing, where the room already carries a level of detail the wardrobe needs to match.
Raised Panel is the most decorative and sits comfortably in townhouses, country homes and listed properties. Beaded is quieter and suits cottage interiors and heritage commissions. Shaker works almost anywhere and remains the most requested door in British fitted furniture. Your designer will look at the mouldings already in the room before recommending one.
Yes. There are over 100 finishes, painted, stained or natural. Because a colour behaves differently under a north-facing window than a south-facing one, your designer brings full-size samples to your home so you can see the door against your own walls, flooring and light before you commit.
Yes, every one. The wardrobe is built to your room rather than assembled from standard carcases, so ceiling height, chimney breasts, sloping eaves, skirting boards and out-of-square walls are all scribed in on site. Exact sizes are confirmed at a technical survey before anything is manufactured.
Yes. A mirror can replace the centre panel on any door in the run, which keeps the frame detail while adding light and depth to the room. Lighting can be integrated into hanging sections, shelving and drawer banks, and is specified bay by bay so it comes on where you actually need it.
