About This Style

Oak has furnished English bedrooms for five centuries, and it is not stopping now. This is the Fenwick in a pale limed oak-effect: the widest, weightiest door in our 5-Piece collection — 105mm stiles on a 22.5mm board — with the grain running true through every panel and the presence to match a period room.

How it works: five real pieces — two 105mm French-cut stiles, two rails, a floating centre panel — joined with 8mm beech dowels and PVA, wrapped in embossed-grain Legno vinyl whose texture you can feel. The oak look arrives without oak’s seasonal movement: no gaps opening in winter, no swelling doors in humid summers, no re-oiling. 2mm chamfered edges with 2mm ABS end caps finish each door.

Make it yours: oak-effect and textured Legno colours made to measure, ten Kronospan interior colours, and layouts from a clean single panel to a stately five-panel — plus inset mirrors. Floor-to-ceiling runs with top boxes, alcoves, walk-ins and corners, all cut in our Wembley workshop.

Every oak fitted wardrobe is designed at a free home visit, made to measure in North London, and installed by our own fitters with a 10-year guarantee.

Oak Fitted Wardrobes London

Five centuries of good taste

Oak never needed a revival because it never left — it simply moved with the times, from dark Jacobean to today’s pale limed finishes. What makes oak work in a bedroom is calm: the grain gives the eye texture without pattern, warmth without colour. The Fenwick carries it on the collection’s grandest frame, whose wide stiles and true five-piece shadow lines read as furniture, not fit-out.

Every project is measured and made in our Wembley workshop — floor-to-ceiling with top boxes, alcoves, corners and mirror doors — in oak-effect and textured Legno finishes with ten interior colours, installed by our own fitters with a 10-year guarantee.

Frequently Asked Questions

Oak fitted wardrobes: your questions answered

Is this real oak?
It is a five-piece door with real joinery construction, wrapped in embossed oak-grain Legno vinyl over an MDF core. You get oak’s look and texture without solid oak’s seasonal movement, cracking or price — and the construction genuinely is five dowelled pieces, like the traditional article.
Light or dark oak — which suits a bedroom?
Limed and pale oaks (as shown) keep rooms bright and read Scandinavian-classic; deeper honey and smoked oaks feel warmer and more traditional — see our Bastille for the smoked look. Physical samples come to the design visit.
Why are the Fenwick’s frames so wide?
Proportion. Its 105mm stiles and 22.5mm thickness are drawn for high-ceilinged period rooms, where slimmer frames look lost. In a Victorian bedroom the Fenwick reads as original furniture.
How much does an oak fitted wardrobe cost in London?
Most complete projects come to £2,400 – £8,500 including delivery and installation, depending on width and internals. A written itemised quote follows your free home design visit.
Are Metro wardrobes made in the UK?
Yes — every wardrobe is made in our own Wembley, North London workshop and installed by our own fitters, with a 10-year guarantee.

The 6 Edge Profiles

The Six Edge Profiles

The Fenwick finishes with 2mm ABS end caps, a 2mm chamfered outer edge and a 1.5mm radius inner edge.
01
Chamfered FENWICK
18mm or 22mm core, with a soft 3mm radius on the top-front edge. The most popular profile across in-frame and contemporary doors.

02
10mm Stepped Chamfer
18mm core with a 10mm chamfered step on the top edge — adds a subtle bevel that catches the light at the door's top line.

03
1mm Chamfered Edge
A near-sharp edge with a 1mm chamfer — gives doors a crisp, architectural feel. Common on slab and minimalist styles.

04
20mm Stepped Profile
A pronounced 20mm step that creates a defined shadow line along the top edge. Adds visible architectural detail to flat-panel styles.

05
25mm Gentle Curve
A wide 25mm rolled edge — the softest profile in the range. Reads as a hand-shaped, traditional joinery detail. Often paired with shaker and panelled designs.
