Bespoke chests of drawers, made to measure for homes across London. Low chests for under a window, tallboys for a corner and dressing chests for beneath a mirror: chests of drawers made to the wall they stand against and to what you keep in them, in oak, ash, greige, grey and white, matched to the wardrobes in the room.
Every drawer runs on soft-close runners and is sized to its contents, deep for knitwear, shallow for accessories, with lined trays and dividers where they help. The carcass is the same moisture-resistant board as our wardrobes, the fronts come from the same door library and the handles match, so a chest sits beside a hinged wardrobe or under a window seat as if it were built with them. In a walk-in wardrobe the same drawers become an island dresser.
Each chest starts with a free home design visit, is made in our Wembley workshop, fitted by our own team and guaranteed for ten years, with prices including VAT and installation. See the other individual pieces, the matching bedsides or the price guide.

Drawers sized to
what goes in them.
A bought chest has one size of drawer, so the socks are lost in a drawer built for jumpers and the jumpers are crushed into one built for socks. Ours are divided by what you own: shallow drawers of 100 to 150mm across the top for the small things, deep drawers of 200 to 250mm below for what is folded, and the split set at the design visit.
The other difference is the wall. A chest made to the width between a wardrobe and a window, or to the height of a sill, uses the wall it stands against rather than leaving a gap either side. And made in the same batch as the wardrobes, in the same paint and handle, it belongs to the room.
Ten chests, drawn to their walls.
Wide and low, tall and narrow, handleless and fluted, with open shelves or as a matching pair. Each page carries the full specification and questions.

Three chests, in elevation
The shape of a chest follows the wall it stands against. A low chest, 1.2 to 1.6 metres wide and about 800mm high, goes under a window or opposite the foot of the bed and doubles as a dressing surface. A standard chest, about a metre each way, is the bedroom chest most rooms take. A tallboy, 600mm wide and 1.2 to 1.4 metres high, stacks its drawers for a corner or a short wall, and is fixed to the wall so it cannot tip. All three carry shallow drawers at the top and deep ones below.
Low chest 1.2 to 1.6m wide, 800mm high · Chest about 1.0m wide, 1.0m high · Tallboy 600mm wide, 1.2 to 1.4m high, anti-tip bracket · Depth 450 to 500mm · Plinth recessed 100mm
Six things a designer checks before a chest is drawn.
Made to the wall
To the width between a wardrobe and a window, or to the height of a sill, so the chest uses the wall rather than leaving a gap either side.
Drawers by what goes in them
Shallow drawers of 100 to 150mm for socks, jewellery and chargers; deep drawers of 200 to 250mm for jumpers, jeans and bedding. The split is set to your inventory.
Full-extension runners
Every drawer runs out to its full depth on soft-close runners rated for 30kg, so the back of the drawer is reached and nothing is lost behind the front.
Solid backs, banded edges
An 18mm solid back keeps the chest square against a wall that is not; every visible edge is banded so a wet glass or a school bag leaves no mark.
A top that takes use
Painted where it is only looked at, timber or stone where it is a dressing surface, lit from a shelf above where it stands under a mirror.
Matched to the wardrobes
Same paint mix, same handle, same door style, sprayed in the same batch as the wardrobes in the room, so the chest belongs rather than stands beside.
WHICH CHEST FOR WHICH WALL
A guide, not a rule: your designer measures the room and draws the piece to it.
| Chest | Size | Best for | Watch for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Low chest Most asked | 1.2 to 1.6m wide, about 800mm high, six to eight drawers | Under a window; opposite the foot of the bed; as a dressing surface | The sill height; a timber or stone top where it is used daily |
| Chest | About 1.0m wide and 1.0m high, four to five drawers | The standard bedroom chest, beside a wardrobe or on a spare wall | The gap to the wardrobe door; a lamp on top |
| Tallboy | 600mm wide, 1.2 to 1.4m high, five drawers | A corner, a short wall, a child's room | Fixed to the wall with an anti-tip bracket; the top drawer within reach |
| Dressing chest | 1.4 to 1.6m wide, 800mm high, shallow drawers across the top | Under a mirror, standing height, in place of a dressing table | Lined top drawers for jewellery; a stool where a chair will not fit |
Drawer depths: what fits
A drawer is sized by what it holds. A hundred millimetres inside takes jewellery, watches and glasses in a lined tray; 150mm takes socks, underwear and belts, divided; 200mm takes shirts and t-shirts folded once; 250mm takes jumpers, jeans and bedding. A chest with the right split has its small things in shallow drawers at hand height and its bulk below, and nothing is dug for. The split is set at the design visit from what you own, and every drawer runs on full-extension soft-close runners so the back is reached.
100mm jewellery, watches, glasses, lined · 150mm socks, underwear, belts, divided · 200mm shirts, t-shirts · 250mm jumpers, jeans, bedding · Runners full extension, soft close, 30kg

Questions clients ask about chests of drawers.
The size of the wall it stands against. A low chest of 1.2 to 1.6 metres wide and about 800mm high suits the wall under a window; a chest of about a metre each way is the usual bedroom chest; a tallboy of 600mm wide and up to 1.4 metres high takes a corner. Depth is 450 to 500mm. Ours are made to the width and height the wall allows rather than to a standard.
We design, make and fit chests of drawers across London, including Wembley, Harrow, North London and North West London, often alongside a fitted bedroom. Book a free home design visit and we’ll measure the space and send you a design with a fixed quote.
It depends on what goes in them. A hundred millimetres inside for jewellery and glasses in a lined tray, 150mm for socks and underwear, 200mm for shirts folded once, 250mm for jumpers, jeans and bedding. A chest with shallow drawers across the top and deep ones below keeps the small things at hand and the bulk out of the way; the split is set from what you own at the design visit.
Yes. A chest is sprayed in the same batch as the wardrobes, with the same door style, paint mix and handle, so the two read as one commission. Fluted wardrobe doors get a fluted chest, shaker doors a shaker chest, handleless doors a handleless chest with the same routed pull. For wardrobes from another supplier we match from a door sample.
Fixed to the wall, yes. Every tall chest we make is fitted with a concealed anti-tip bracket as standard, the drawers run on soft-close runners that cannot slam, and the handles can be knobs or recessed pulls that give small hands nothing to climb. The lacquer wipes clean.
A low, wide chest with shallow drawers across the top is the dressing table most rooms are better with: standing height, the make-up and jewellery in the top drawers, a mirror on the wall above and a lit shelf if the room is dark. The top can be a stone or a timber where it is used every day, and a stool fits where a chair would not.
Proportion. A chest is wider than it is high; a tallboy is a narrow chest that stacks its drawers, usually 600mm wide and 1.2 to 1.4 metres high, for a corner or a short wall. A tallboy holds nearly as much as a chest on half the floor and must be fixed to the wall.
Yes, and most chests are ordered with them. Bedsides in the same finish, top and handle as the chest are made in the same batch, so the bed wall and the chest wall match exactly.
Fitted within 21 days of your order being confirmed. A chest is delivered assembled and levelled in place by our own fitters in about an hour, and delivered with the wardrobes where they are ordered together.
One wall. One chest.
One design visit.
Our designer measures the wall, takes an inventory of what the chest has to hold, and draws it to your wardrobes.
