Twickenham Oak Chest of Drawers

The Twickenham is the chest for the space under a window. At about 800mm high its top sits below most sills, and at 1.2 to 1.6 metres wide it takes the wall from side to side, so the room gains eight drawers and a long surface where a taller chest would have blocked the light.

The oak is a light, straight-grained woodgrain that runs horizontally across all eight fronts, and the round knobs sit in a line down the centre of each bank. The plinth is recessed so the chest reads as a floating block rather than a box on the floor.

How it works: two drawer banks share one carcass with a centre divider, so the long top is supported at three points and does not sag. Each drawer is a 16mm solid-sided box on full-extension soft-close runners rated for 30kg, and the top drawers are shallower for small things with the deep drawers below.

Designed for a wide wall

A wide chest replaces two narrow ones with a single top and a single line of knobs, which is calmer in a room and more useful on the surface. The Twickenham is drawn to the exact width of your wall, so it fits between a wardrobe and a wall or under a window with no gap either side.

Designed for the room: the chest can be made any width from 1.0 to 2.0 metres, the knobs can be bars, the top can be a stone or a solid timber, and the same oak can face the wardrobes beside it.

Built for everyday use: every drawer front is banded on all four edges, the runners are full-extension so the back of the drawer is reached, and the chest is fixed to the wall with a concealed anti-tip bracket.

Will it fit under my window?

That is what it is for. At about 800mm high its top clears most sills, and it is made to the exact width of the wall so there is no gap at either side. Your designer measures the sill and the wall at the visit.

What goes in the shallow drawers?

The small things: underwear, socks, belts, jewellery in a tray. The deep drawers below take jumpers, jeans and bedding. The split is set to what you own rather than a standard drawer height.

Can I have it in another finish?

Yes. Any of our woodgrains or painted colours, with round knobs or bar handles in brass, black or nickel, and a stone or solid timber top where it doubles as a dressing surface.

How is it delivered and fitted?
