Fitted wardrobes are built to your room's exact dimensions and run floor to ceiling and wall to wall, while freestanding wardrobes come in standard sizes and leave gaps above, beside and beneath them. Most Metro fitted wardrobes are designed, manufactured and installed within 21 days of you approving the design. The sequence is a free home design visit, then detailed drawings and a fixed quotation, then manufacture at our Wembley workshop, then installation. Fitting itself takes one to three days on site. Walk-in dressing rooms and larger multi-room commissions take longer — allow 8 to 12 weeks.

Small bedrooms are where fitted wardrobes deliver the biggest gain, because building floor to ceiling recovers the dead space a freestanding unit wastes above and around it. Choose hinged doors if you have at least 600mm of clear floor space in front of the wardrobe and want to see the whole interior at once. Choose sliding doors if the room is tight, a bed or radiator sits close to the wardrobe, or you want mirror panels across the full run. Sliding doors give you access to roughly half the wardrobe at a time; hinged doors give you all of it.

Yes — this is the main reason to choose bespoke over flat-pack. We hand-measure every wall, return and roofline, then manufacture each component to those exact dimensions. Victorian chimney breasts, loft conversions with sloping eaves, bay window returns and boxed-in pipework are all routine. Nothing is cut to a standard size and adjusted on site with filler panels.

Yes, and it is included rather than quoted separately. Our fitters take out your existing wardrobes on the first day of installation and remove the waste when they leave. Where the old units were built in, making good the wall behind them is included — you will normally want to decorate afterwards, and most clients arrange a decorator for the week after we finish.

Every Metro wardrobe carries a 10-year guarantee covering both manufacturing and installation — carcasses, doors, painted finishes, hinges, drawer runners and alignment. Because we design, manufacture and install in-house from our own Wembley workshop, there is one point of contact if anything needs attention, with no dispute between supplier and fitter.
