The Alaska is a handleless door: instead of fitted hardware, a J-shaped pull is routed into the edge of the door itself, so the face stays completely flat. Behind that face sits a five-layer construction — a wafer-thin PVC skin over a 22mm structural MDF core, bonded under heat and sealed with a melamine-coated reverse.

About This Style

The Alaska is a wardrobe designed to disappear into the room: one continuous, flush plane from skirting to ceiling, with no handles, no visible hardware and no framed edges. A fine shadow line around each door gives the face quiet definition — the look that defines contemporary London interiors, and the reason handleless wardrobes have become the first choice for new builds, loft conversions and pared-back period renovations alike.

How it works: the wardrobe takes its name from the Alaska door it is built on — a handleless design where a J-shaped pull is routed into the edge of every door and drawer front. Your fingers slide into the groove; the door itself is the handle. Each door is a five-layer construction: a 0.4mm PVC face over a 22mm E1-grade MDF core (PEFC/FSC® accredited), heat-bonded with polyurethane dispersion adhesive and sealed with a melamine backing. Doors carry a clean square edge with a soft 3mm radius and hang on soft-close hinges as standard.

Make it yours: over 90 finishes across matt, superior matt, high gloss and woodgrain, with ten interior colours to match or contrast. Floor-to-ceiling runs, alcove builds around chimney breasts, walk-in dressing rooms and L-shaped corner configurations are all cut to your exact room dimensions in our Wembley workshop.

A handleless fitted wardrobe, made to measure for your London home

The Alaska is the plainest door we make, and that is its whole argument. A pure slab with a J-pull machined into the edge, it has nothing on the face at all — no handle, no groove, no recess — so a run of them in white gloss reads as a wall that happens to open. The arrangement shown wraps the bed floor to ceiling with a lit vertical strip in each return and a desk under the window.

Handleless is a word that covers several things. On the Alaska it means a J-shaped profile along the long edge of the door: you hook your fingers behind the edge and pull, and the door swings on soft-close hinges like any other.

How it works: a 22mm E1-grade MDF slab with the J-profile machined along one edge and a Profile Edge 1 elsewhere, wrapped in 5G vinyl over the J so the grip is finished in the same surface as the face. The Alaska is one of the doors offered in all three finishes — gloss, superior matt and matt — because a flat face can take any of them.

White gloss is shown; it is the finish that makes a small bedroom feel larger, because the wardrobe reflects the window back into the room.

Built for everyday use: a J-pull puts the wear on the edge, gloss wipes clean with a damp cloth, and there is nothing on the face to catch, mark or clean around.

Does white gloss yellow or scratch?

The 5G vinyl is UV-stable, so it does not yellow the way a sprayed white can, and the gloss face is harder than paint. It will show a deep scratch — any gloss will — but ordinary wear wipes off with a damp cloth. Because the grip is on the edge, the face itself is rarely touched.
