The Lane pairs a classic 75mm shaker frame with the handleless principle. The frame is a fine routed line — the panel sits just millimetres back, exactly as the door photographs. Along the long edge, a slim J-shaped channel is routed behind a short front lip: your fingers hook behind the face to open the door, which is why from the front you see only a thin shadow line — and no handles anywhere.

About This Style

The Lane answers a question our designers hear constantly: can I have the shaker look without handles? Yes — this is it. A classic 75mm shaker frame on every door, and not a handle in sight: one calm, flush plane from skirting to ceiling, opened by a J-shaped pull routed into each door’s long edge.

How it works: the Lane is built on a thicker-than-standard 22mm E1-grade MDF core (PEFC/FSC® accredited). The shaker profile is precision-routed into the board itself — no rails, no joints — then the whole face, profile and edges are wrapped in one seamless thermoformed skin. Doors carry a clean square edge with a soft 3mm radius and hang on soft-close hinges as standard.

Make it yours: 77 finishes across matt, superior matt and woodgrain (the Lane’s velvet-matt faces are the family favourite), with ten interior colours to match or contrast. Floor-to-ceiling, alcove, walk-in and corner builds, all cut to your exact room in our Wembley workshop.

The shaker look, without the handles

The Handleless Shaker Fitted Wardrobe solves a contradiction. A shaker door is defined by its frame, and a frame wants a handle on the stile; a handleless wardrobe wants nothing on the face at all. The Lane gives you both: a true shaker frame on 75mm stiles, and a J-pull machined into the door edge so the face stays empty.

The run shown is navy super-matt, floor to ceiling around the bed with lit returns and a desk under the window. From across the room it is a shaker wardrobe; up close it is a handleless one, and the stiles are where your hand goes.

How it works: a 22mm E1-grade MDF door machined with the shaker recess on the face and a J-profile along one long edge, wrapped in 5G vinyl. The J is the grip: you hook your fingers behind the door edge and pull. The Lane is offered in matt and superior matt — not gloss, because gloss and a shaker recess do not mix.

Seventy-five millimetre stiles are wide enough to carry the J-pull without the frame looking thin beside the recess.

Designed around how you use your room

The Lane suits a room with period detail that wants a modern, unbroken wardrobe — cornicing and a panelled door, but no brass. It is drawn here wrapping the bed wall.

Built for everyday use: a J-pull takes the wear on the edge of the door rather than on the face, and there is nothing to catch clothing. Soft-close hinges throughout.

The interior finish is chosen at the design visit.

A J-pull on a shaker door is two machining operations on one board — the recess on the face and the J-profile on the edge — and they have to be cut in the right order so the edge profile does not break into the frame. Both are done by CNC in our HA9 Wembley factory before the vinyl is wrapped over the J.

Can I have a shaker wardrobe without handles?

Yes — that is exactly what the Lane is. The classic 75mm shaker frame is routed into each door, and a J-shaped pull in the long edge replaces handles entirely, so the run reads as one flush plane.

What is the Lane door made of?

A thicker-than-standard 22mm E1-grade MDF core with the shaker profile precision-routed into the board, wrapped in one seamless matt or superior matt skin — no joints, no paint to chip.

How can a shaker door be handleless?

By moving the grip from the face to the edge. The Lane keeps the full shaker frame on the front and machines a J-shaped profile along the long edge of the door instead; you hook your fingers behind the edge and pull. The face stays exactly as a shaker face should, with nothing fixed to it.

Why is the Lane not offered in gloss?

Because a shaker recess breaks a gloss surface into planes, and gloss shows every join between them. Gloss is restricted to pure slabs like the Galaxy. The Lane is offered in matt and superior matt, and the navy super-matt shown is the finish most people take it in.

Does the J-pull weaken the shaker frame?

No. The J is machined into the long edge of the stile, outside the shaker recess, and the 75mm stile is wide enough to carry it with the frame intact. That width is why the Lane is offered at 75mm and not narrower — a slimmer stile would not leave enough material either side of the J.
