Inside the Annabelle door

The Annabelle looks like joinery — arched top rail, raised panel, stepped moulding — but it is pressed from a single board. The cathedral arch and its ogee moulding are routed into an 18mm E1-grade MDF core, then the whole face is wrapped in one seamless skin, so there are no glued joints to open and no paint lines to crack. Stiles measure a classic 55mm, tall doors carry two panels, and every edge finishes in Profile Edge 2 — a softly rounded 10mm edge that suits the traditional profile.

About This Style

Black is the boldest thing you can do to a bedroom — and the most forgiving, when the doors have detail to catch the light. This wall is built on the Annabelle door: a classic cathedral arch with raised panels and stepped mouldings, shown in matt black with slim brass bar pulls, a pairing straight out of a Mayfair dressing room.

How it works: the arch, panel and moulding are routed into an 18mm E1-grade MDF core (PEFC/FSC® accredited), then wrapped in one seamless skin — the look of traditional joinery with none of its joints. Stiles are a classic 55mm, edges finish softly rounded (Profile Edge 2), tall doors carry two panels, and drawer fronts take a matching shaped motif. Doors hang on soft-close Blum hinges with your choice of handles — the brass bars shown, or anything from our library.

Make it yours: matt black is one of 80+ matt, superior matt and woodgrain finishes (the Annabelle is not offered in gloss — its mouldings are made for soft light). Ten Kronospan interior colours, floor-to-ceiling and loft-level top boxes as shown, alcoves, walk-ins and corners — all cut in our Wembley workshop.

Are black fitted wardrobes too dark for a bedroom?
Not when the doors carry detail. The Annabelle’s arches and raised panels give matt black constant soft shadow-play, and brass hardware, warm lighting or an open shelving bay (as shown) lift the wall. In rooms with decent daylight, black reads as tailored rather than heavy.
Does matt black show dust and fingerprints?
Matt and superior matt faces are the most forgiving finishes we make — far better than gloss for marks. A soft dry cloth is all the care they need.
