The Windsor is the boldest of our arched doors: a soft-peaked arch over one long panel, framed by 65mm stiles and a deep sculpted moulding that rolls over the curve. All of it — arch, panel and moulding — is routed into an 18mm E1-grade MDF core and wrapped in one seamless skin, so the joinery look carries none of joinery’s weaknesses. Edges finish in Profile Edge 4, a sculpted 20mm step that matches the face.

About This Style

Some bedrooms ask for furniture with a bit of ceremony — a wall of doors that would not look out of place in a country house. That is the Windsor: a soft-peaked arch over a long panel, a deep sculpted moulding rolling around the curve, shown in near-black with brass hardware and a lit oak display bay at its centre.

How it works: the arch, panel and moulding are routed into an 18mm E1-grade MDF core (PEFC/FSC® accredited) and wrapped in one seamless skin — the presence of traditional joinery with no joints to open or paint lines to crack. Stiles are a generous 65mm, edges carry a sculpted 20mm step profile, and doors hang on soft-close hinges with your choice of handles.

Make it yours: 80+ matt, superior matt and woodgrain finishes (no gloss — the moulding is made for soft light), ten interior colours, floor-to-ceiling runs with top boxes, alcoves, walk-ins and corners — all cut in our Wembley workshop.

Tradition, engineered properly

The Traditional Fitted Wardrobe is built on the Windsor, the arched door with the most depth in it. The arch comes to a peak rather than a curve, the moulding around the panel is the deepest we cut, and on 65mm stiles the whole door has the weight of a Victorian panelled front — engineered so it will never need the Victorian maintenance.

The run shown is matt black with a lit oak niche at its centre, drawers beneath carrying the same deep moulding, and a dressing table with a lit mirror on the return. The peaks line across the top of the run like a row of gables.

How it works: an 18mm E1-grade MDF door machined with the peaked arch and a deep raised moulding, wrapped in 5G vinyl that follows every step of the profile. Brass bar handles run vertically on the doors and horizontally on the drawers.

Deep moulding on a black door is a specific choice: the shadow in the moulding is where the detail lives, and black makes that shadow read.

Designed around how you use your room

The Windsor answers a period room directly — deep skirting, a panelled door, a heavy cornice. It is drawn here with top boxes, a central niche and a dressing area on the return.

Built for everyday use: the deep moulding is machined into an 18mm board, not applied to it, so there is nothing to lift or crack. The doors close on soft-close hinges.

The interior finish is chosen at the design visit; the niche shown is oak.

A peaked arch meets at a point, and the two sides of that point have to be cut to the identical angle or the peak sits off-centre — visibly, once you have a row of them. The programme is mirrored precisely on the CNC in our HA9 Wembley factory.

The two sides of each peak are mirrored exactly on the CNC so the point sits centred on every door, the deep moulding is cut in the same pass, and carcass edges are banded on the industrial line.

What makes a fitted wardrobe “traditional”?

Proportion and profile: framed doors rather than flat slabs, arches or panels with real moulding depth, and hardware you can see. The Windsor delivers all three — a peaked arch, a long raised panel and a deep sculpted moulding — while being built with thoroughly modern engineering underneath.

Will a traditional style suit a modern London flat?

Traditional doors in a deep colour with brass hardware are one of the most-requested looks in period conversions and new-builds alike — the contrast of classic profile and contemporary colour is exactly what keeps the style current.

How is the Windsor different from the Verona?

The Verona curves; the Windsor points. The Windsor arch rises to a peak, its moulding is the deepest we cut, and its stiles are 65mm against the Verona’s 54mm. Side by side the Verona is the softer, more feminine door and the Windsor the more architectural one. Both are shown in the same black so the difference is the shape alone.

Will deep moulding collect dust?

Less than you would expect, because it is a shallow profile machined into a board rather than a separate moulding pinned on with a ledge behind it. There is no gap for dust to settle in, and the vinyl wrap is continuous over the profile, so it wipes with a damp cloth like a flat door.

Which rooms suit the Windsor?

Rooms with height and period detail — deep skirting, a heavy cornice, a panelled door. The peaked arch wants a tall door under it and answers the architecture around it. In a low or plain room the deep moulding can feel heavy, in which case the Verona or the Capital Arch gives you the arch with less weight.
