The Capital Arch is tradition pared back to a single gesture: one fine line, routed into the face, drawing a wide shallow arch over a nearly full-width panel. No deep moulding, no raised profile — just a crisp incision that catches a thread of shadow. It is routed into an 18mm E1-grade MDF core and wrapped in one seamless skin, with 60mm stiles and Profile Edge 5, a soft 25mm sweep that eases each edge into the face.

Bespoke is not a style — it is the freedom to land exactly where you want between styles. The Capital Arch exists for precisely that brief: a wide, shallow arch drawn in a single fine line, with no heavy moulding, so the doors read classic from across the room and contemporary up close. Shown in near-black with brass and a lit oak display bay.

How it works: that fine line and the arch are routed into an 18mm E1-grade MDF core (PEFC/FSC® accredited) and wrapped in one seamless skin. Stiles are 60mm, edges finish in a soft 25mm sweep (Profile Edge 5), and doors hang on soft-close hinges with your choice of handles. Because every carcass is cut to your measured wall, the design flexes — arch doors on the wardrobes, plain tops above, drawers below, whatever the room asks for.

Bespoke, on this page, means a wardrobe that was drawn for the wall it stands against rather than adapted to it. The run shown fills its wall in matt black with a lit oak niche at the centre, three drawers beneath, and a dressing table with a lit round mirror on the return — one commission, one door, one finish.

The door is the Capital Arch, the most pared-back of our arched family. The arch is a fine line across the top rail rather than a deep moulding, on 60mm stiles, so the doors read as arched from across the room and as clean from close to.

How it works: an 18mm E1-grade MDF door machined with the fine-line arch, wrapped in 5G vinyl that follows the curve. Long brass bar handles run vertically on the tall doors; the dressing table takes the same bar horizontally.

Black on an arched door works because the arch gives the eye something to read where a flat black slab gives it nothing. The niche in oak is the deliberate warm break in the run.

The Capital Arch suits a room that wants a little formality without period weight. It is drawn here with top boxes, a central niche and a dressing area on the return.

What does “bespoke” actually mean for a fitted wardrobe?

Three things, all of which we do as standard: built to your measured wall (not adapted stock sizes), specified by you (door style, finish, interior layout, handles), and made for the project in our own workshop. The design visit is where the specification happens — nothing is off the shelf.

Is bespoke much more expensive than off-the-shelf?

Less than most people expect, because nothing is imported or middle-manned: most complete projects come to £1,800 – £7,440 for a two-metre wardrobe, by level including VAT, delivery and installation. A written itemised quote after the free home visit shows exactly where every pound goes.

Why choose the Capital Arch door?

It is our most adaptable profile — a wide shallow arch drawn in one fine routed line. It nods to period character without heavy moulding, so it suits Victorian terraces and new-build flats equally well.

Can different rooms have different configurations of the same door?

Yes — that is the point of bespoke. The same Capital Arch face can run floor-to-ceiling in the main bedroom, over-bed in a guest room and as a compact run in a child’s room, all in matching or deliberately contrasting finishes.

What makes the Capital Arch different from the other arched doors?

Restraint. The Verona has a rounded crown and the Windsor a deep peaked moulding; the Capital Arch draws the arch as a single fine line across the top rail on 60mm stiles. It is the arched door for a room that wants the shape without the period detail — a new-build or a flat rather than a Victorian terrace.

Is a black wardrobe a mistake in a small room?

Not on its own. Black recedes if it is lit from within and broken by something warm, which is why the run shown has an oak niche at its centre and a lit mirror on the return. What makes a small room feel smaller is a dark wall with nothing to look at. Your designer brings full-size samples so you can judge it in your own light.
