The Oslo is a plain slab with one act of tailoring: a single fine groove routed horizontally across each door, 60mm from the edge, drawing one quiet line across the run. The groove is cut into the 18mm E1-grade MDF core before the whole face is wrapped in a single seamless skin, and each door finishes in Profile Edge 5 — a soft 25mm sweep that eases the edge into the face.

About This Style

Modern doesn’t have to mean featureless. The Oslo door is a clean slab with one precise act of tailoring — a single fine groove routed across each door, 60mm from the edge, so a wall of wardrobes carries a quiet pinstripe rhythm instead of a blank stare. It is the door we recommend when a room needs contemporary calm with just enough detail to feel finished.

How it works: each door is an 18mm E1-grade MDF core (PEFC/FSC® accredited); the groove is routed first, then the whole face is wrapped in one thermoformed skin so the detail is sealed under a continuous surface. Doors hang on soft-close hinges and finish in a soft 25mm swept edge that eases each door into its neighbour.

The Modern Fitted Wardrobe is a slab with a pulse. The Oslo is a flat door with a single line-groove routed horizontally across it — 60mm from the edge — so a run of them reads as one continuous flat surface with a fine line drawn across every door at the same height. It is the least you can add to a slab and still have added something.

The run shown wraps the bed wall in navy super-matt, floor to ceiling on both sides with a desk on the return under the window. There are no handles; the doors open on the groove, which is deep enough to take fingertips, and on push-to-release catches where the groove is not to hand.

How it works: an 18mm E1-grade MDF slab with the groove machined into the face and a Profile Edge 5, wrapped in 5G vinyl that follows into the groove so there is no raw edge inside it. Super-matt absorbs light rather than reflecting it, which keeps a large navy run calm.

The groove is set at a single height across every door in the run, including the desk fronts, so it reads as one line across the room.

Built for everyday use: super-matt hides fingermarks where gloss shows them, the groove is machined not applied so it cannot lift, and the hinges are soft-close.

What makes a fitted wardrobe “modern”?

Clean slab faces, minimal or integrated hardware, floor-to-ceiling proportions and finishes chosen for texture rather than ornament. The Oslo adds one tailored detail — a fine routed groove near the edge — so the wall reads considered rather than blank.

Is the groove routed or applied?

Routed. It is machined into the 18mm board before the vinyl goes on, and the vinyl is then wrapped down into the groove so there is no raw edge inside it. An applied groove — a strip stuck to the face — would lift at the ends within a few years; a routed one is part of the door for as long as the door lasts.

Where is the groove, and why 60mm?

Sixty millimetres from the edge, at the same height on every door in the run. That distance puts it where a hand naturally reaches on a tall door, so it works as the grip, and it is far enough from the edge that the line reads as a design decision rather than as a gap. The Euroline is the same idea at 40mm if you want the line closer to the edge.

Does the groove line up with the desk?

Yes. The desk on the return is cut from the same Oslo door, and the groove is machined at the same 60mm setting, so the line runs from the wardrobe doors across the desk fronts at one height. It is the detail that makes the desk read as part of the wardrobe rather than a piece of furniture placed beside it.

Does super-matt mark more than gloss?

Less. Super-matt absorbs light rather than reflecting it, so fingermarks that would show as smears on a gloss face are far less visible, and a damp cloth takes them off. It is the finish shown on the Oslo for that reason — a navy run this size in gloss would show every touch.
