Grey gloss is the finish that works hardest in a London bedroom: it bounces daylight back into the room, reads a size larger than it is, and pairs greys and timber floors effortlessly. This wall is built on the Galaxy door — a pure slab whose mirror finish depends on something you can’t see: a dead-flat core that keeps every reflection running true.

How it works: each door is an 18mm E1-grade MDF core (PEFC/FSC® accredited) wrapped in one seamless high-gloss skin — face and edges in a single piece, so there are no glued-on panels to chip and no seams at the corners. Doors finish in a soft radiused edge (Profile Edge 3) and hang on soft-close hinges; shown handle-free, opened on push-latches, though any handle from our library can be fitted.

Why gloss still wins in London bedrooms

The Grey Gloss Fitted Wardrobe is a pure slab — nothing on the face, nothing cut into the edge — in a high-gloss grey that reflects the room back at itself. The run shown stands floor to ceiling on both sides of the bed, with a vertical LED strip lit into each return, so the gloss carries light down the wall on either side of the headboard.

Gloss is why the Galaxy exists. Most 5G doors come in matt or superior matt; the Galaxy is one of the few offered in all three, and it is the door to choose when the finish is meant to bounce light rather than absorb it — a small or north-facing bedroom, or one where the wardrobe is the only large surface.

How it works: an 18mm E1-grade MDF slab wrapped in 5G high-gloss vinyl with a Profile Edge 3 — a soft radius that lets the gloss wrap the edge without a hard line. There are no handles: the doors open on push-to-release catches, so the face stays entirely unbroken.

A gloss slab shows every ripple in the board beneath it, which is why the core is E1-grade MDF and not chipboard.

A slab in gloss is the door for a room that wants to disappear into itself. The arrangement shown makes the wardrobe part of the bed wall, with a desk on the return under the window.

Built for everyday use: gloss wipes clean with a damp cloth and shows no fingermarks near a handle because there is no handle. The catches are adjustable and the hinges soft-close.

The interior finish is chosen at the design visit.

A gloss face is the least forgiving surface in the range: a board that is a fraction out of flat shows as a ripple in the reflection. Galaxy doors are pressed flat and checked under raking light in our HA9 Wembley factory before the vinyl is applied.

Do gloss wardrobe doors scratch or lose their shine?

A quality gloss skin is harder-wearing than painted gloss and never needs polishing — a soft dry cloth keeps it bright. Unlike glued-on acrylic panels, the Galaxy’s wrap covers face and edges in one piece, so there are no corners to chip.

Is grey gloss a good choice for a small or dark bedroom?

It is the classic choice for exactly those rooms: the reflective face returns daylight into the room and visually pushes the wall back. Grey works with almost every wall colour and floor tone.

How do the doors open with no handles?

As shown, on push-latches — press and the door springs open. If you prefer positive pulls, any handle from our library can be fitted, or you can step to one of our integrated-grip doors like the Jasper.

Why is this one of the few doors available in gloss?

Because a gloss wrap only works on a completely flat face. Any groove, moulding or shaker recess breaks the reflection and shows every join, so the gloss finish is restricted to pure slabs like the Galaxy. If you want gloss, this is the door; if you want a profile, you are choosing matt.

What are the lit returns?

The end panels of each wardrobe, either side of the bed, carry a recessed vertical LED strip. On a gloss door the light runs down the return and reflects off the face, so the bed wall is lit from both sides without a lamp on either bedside. It is on a dimmer, so it works as reading light or as a night light.
