About This Style

The Cambridge Glass and Mirror Sliding Wardrobe is our mixed-material sliding design: charcoal matt panels, smoked glass and silver mirror combined across the doors, set between open oak shelving with integrated lighting and a matching oak dressing table. It is a wardrobe wall rather than a wardrobe, and it is made to measure for the room it goes in.

The sixteen renders show how the three materials can be arranged, including three layouts of the same run in full black glass and mirror with black profiles: full-height mirror beside glass, charcoal panels with a single mirror band, glass at the top with panels below, and alternating mixed doors. Every layout keeps the horizontal bands aligned across the run so the wardrobe reads as one composition.

The doors are built from premium 18mm MFC E1 Grade boards with toughened smoked glass and silver mirror, framed in champagne profiles and run on a soft-close sliding mechanism with anti-jump rollers. A 200mm MFC supporting frame behind the doors carries their weight and is finished to match the carcass.

The layout shown measures 3600mm wide, 2400mm high and 680mm deep including the open bays. Inside, a light oak interior takes double and long hanging, adjustable shelves, soft-close drawers, shoe storage and accessory trays, with LED lighting in the open shelving and optional lighting inside the doors.

Every Cambridge is made to measure and precision-manufactured in our Wembley, North London (HA9) workshop and installed by our own team, from the free home design consultation to the finished fit.

Backed by our 10-Year Parts and Labour Guarantee, the Cambridge combines charcoal, glass, mirror and oak in a bedroom wall that stores everything and hides most of it.

Cambridge Glass and Mirror Sliding Wardrobe

The Cambridge Glass and Mirror Sliding Wardrobe mixes three door materials in one run. Charcoal matt panels give the wall its weight, smoked glass softens it, and silver mirror opens the room up, while the light oak shelving and dressing table either side keep the composition warm. The layouts in the gallery show how far the mix can be pushed in either direction.

How it works: the doors slide horizontally across the front of the wardrobe rather than opening outwards. Behind the sliding system we construct a 200mm-wide internal MFC panel frame, finished to match the selected wardrobe carcass. It carries the weight of the doors and provides a strong, stable structure for the top and bottom tracks they run on.

Profiles are shown in champagne and are also available in Silver, White, Black Gloss, Black Matt, Cashmere and Gun Metal across the Modern, Prestige, Palermo and Supreme ranges. Mirror choices are Silver, Grey and Bronze; glass can be smoked, tinted, frosted or clear.

Designed around how you use your room

Your storage is not limited to a row of hanging rails. Depending on your design, your made-to-measure sliding wardrobe can include:

  • Hanging rails for shirts, dresses and coats
  • Adjustable shelves
  • Internal drawers
  • Shoe storage
  • Accessory compartments
  • Internal lighting
  • Tall and full-height storage
  • Custom combinations of hanging and shelving

Built for everyday use: the Cambridge shown here has a light oak interior and measures 3600mm wide x 2400mm high x 680mm deep including the open shelving bays either side of the sliding doors.

Nathan ZalcbergGoogle review

“We had 2 wardrobes and a dressing table fitted from Metro. The fitters were very friendly and professional. The fitting team was also knowledgeable and they finished everything sooner than expected. The dressing table was left off of the order, but has been ordered and fitted in few days. Really impressed with the turnaround time with Metro. All in all a great experience. Would highly recommend them.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Cambridge Glass and Mirror Sliding Wardrobe FAQs

Do sliding doors need clearance in front of the wardrobe?
No. The doors slide horizontally across the front rather than swinging outwards, so no floor space has to be kept clear for a door to open into. It is what makes a sliding wardrobe work opposite a bed or in a narrow room where a hinged door would not.
What is the 200mm frame behind the doors for?
It is structural. Behind the sliding system we build a 200mm-wide internal MFC panel frame that carries the weight of the doors and provides a stable structure for the top and bottom tracks they run on. It is finished in your selected carcass finish so it reads as part of the wardrobe rather than as visible framework.
Why is the Cambridge Glass and Mirror Sliding Wardrobe deeper than a hinged wardrobe?
It is 680mm deep, the standard depth for a sliding wardrobe. The doors sit on tracks in front of the storage rather than on hinges at its edge, so the running gear takes up depth that a hinged wardrobe does not need. In return you lose no floor space in front of it.
Can I have the open shelving without the dressing table?
Yes. The oak bays either side of the doors are drawn to your wall, so you can have shelving both sides, a dressing table one side, or sliding doors edge to edge with no open bays at all.
Is smoked glass see-through?
Smoked glass lets shapes and light through but hides detail, so the interior reads as a soft shadow rather than a display. If you want the contents fully hidden, use a charcoal panel; if you want them shown, use clear glass with interior lighting.
How much does the Cambridge Glass and Mirror Sliding Wardrobe cost?
The layout shown, 3600mm wide including the open oak bays, 2400mm high and 680mm deep, is from £3,672 including VAT, delivery and installation. Every wardrobe is made to measure, so your exact price is confirmed in writing after the free home design visit.
