This featured Chelsea installation measures 4200mm wide, 2400mm high and 600mm deep. At this scale, the wardrobe provides a clear, full-height storage solution for a bedroom while maintaining the structured, framed appearance associated with Shaker doors. The exterior is finished in Sage Green Matt, with matching Sage Green interiors for a consistent finish inside and out. The doors are 18mm E1-grade MDF, routed and wrapped, on 18mm MFC carcasses, and hang on concealed soft-close hinges for smooth, quiet door operation. Behind the doors, the storage can be configured with hanging rails, shelving and drawers to suit the household using it. That means the available 4200mm width can be planned around the mix of long hanging, shorter hanging, folded clothing, shoes and accessories that the customer actually needs, rather than following a fixed internal template.

The Chelsea is manufactured in Metro Home Interiors’ Wembley, North London (HA9) workshop. Metro’s factory uses CNC machining as part of its made-to-measure manufacturing process, allowing components to be prepared for the agreed design before installation. The factory also runs a beam saw, supporting the cutting workflow for fitted-furniture projects. These are practical production details, not decorative claims: a made-to-measure wardrobe depends on accurate components and an installation planned around the final room dimensions.

The Chelsea Shaker Wardrobe is a full wall of Sage Green shaker doors with one thing cut into it: a dressing nook. Seven doors run floor to ceiling with matt black bar handles, and at the window end the run opens into a lit recess with a desk top, a bank of drawers and a top box above, so the wardrobe and the dressing table are one piece of furniture.

Sage Green is used inside as well as out, and the shaker frame is the Chelsea — a plain shaker on 63mm stiles, which is narrow enough that seven doors in a row read as a rhythm rather than a grid.

How it works: the Chelsea door is a shaker recess routed into a single 18mm E1-grade MDF board and wrapped in one seamless Sage Green skin, so there is no frame-and-panel joint to open and the finish covers face, recess and edge. Doors hang on concealed soft-close hinges; the drawers in the nook run on soft-close runners.

The nook is built as part of the run — the top box above it and the drawers below are the same carcass line as the wardrobes — so the recess reads as a door left open rather than a gap.

What is the dressing nook?

A recess cut into the end of the wardrobe run, at the window, with a desk top at sitting height, a bank of drawers beneath it and a top box above. It is lit by an LED strip under the top box and takes a stool. It replaces a dressing table without giving up any of the wardrobe’s line — from across the room it reads as a door left open.

Why 63mm stiles?

Because there are seven doors. A shaker frame takes the same width on every door, and on a run this long a wide frame turns into a grid. At 63mm the Chelsea keeps a proper recess and a proper frame but lets the panels dominate, so seven doors read as a rhythm across the wall rather than as cabinetry.

Can the nook be somewhere else in the run?

Yes — it goes where the light is. In the room shown the window is at the left end, so the nook sits there and the seven doors run away from it. If your window is central, the nook can be central with doors either side; if there is no window, it is lit by its own strip and placed wherever the room gives it a stool’s worth of floor.

Is Sage Green inside as well?

As shown, yes — the carcasses and shelves are the same green, so an open door shows the same colour as a closed one. Many people prefer a lighter interior for finding things, and a pale woodgrain or white inside the same green doors is a common choice. Your designer brings both.
