Cotswold Bespoke Shaker Loft Wardrobe

The Cotswold is the largest wardrobe in the loft range and the one that turns a whole attic wall into a room. Six metres of Cashmere woodgrain shaker doors run beneath two rooflights, with a desk built into the left-hand end, a bank of nine drawers in the centre and open, lit shelving at both ends where the roof comes down to meet the floor.

Cashmere woodgrain is a pale woodgrain with a soft, linen-like texture, and it is used inside and out — the doors, the drawer fronts, the desk and the open shelving are all the same finish, with the interiors in Cotta Cremona Oak. Slim black bar handles pick out each door and drawer.

How it works: a run this long under a pitched roof is planned in sections. The tall centre, under the ridge, takes the shaker doors at full height with the drawer bank below. Towards each end the ceiling falls, and the wardrobe follows it: first as shorter doors, then as open shelves at the point where a door would no longer clear the slope.

The doors are shaker-framed 18mm E1-grade MFC on concealed soft-close hinges; the drawers run on soft-close runners.

The desk is cut into the run at the left-hand end, under the first rooflight, with a drawer pedestal on the same fronts — a workspace with natural light, inside the wardrobe’s footprint.

Built for awkward spaces: the lowest part of a loft wall, where the roof meets the floor, is where the Cotswold puts its open shelving — lit, and shallow enough to reach. It is the part of the room that would otherwise hold nothing.

Built for everyday use: 18mm MFC carcasses with a solid 18mm back, top and bottom, and a run this long is built as a series of carcasses rather than one, so each is square, each carries its own back, and each is fixed to the wall independently.

The Cotswold shown measures 6000mm wide x 2843mm high at the ridge x 600mm deep, under a dormer loft with two rooflights. Yours is built to your span and your pitch.

Manufactured in our Wembley workshop

Six metres of loft wardrobe is a dozen carcasses, each a different height, cut and drilled in our HA9 Wembley factory from one survey. The beam saw cuts the angled tops to the roof pitch, and the CNC drills every hinge, shelf and runner position so the drawer fronts and door rails line through along the full length of the wall.

The shaker recess is routed into each door individually, and every visible edge — including the open shelving under the slope — is banded in Cashmere woodgrain on industrial equipment.
