Inside the sliding door
A sliding door is an assembly rather than a single board. An aluminium profile runs around the perimeter of an 18mm MFC panel — or a mirror — and grips it on all four sides, so the panel is held in a frame rather than hung from hinges. Behind the doors we build a 200mm-wide internal MFC panel frame, finished to match your carcass. That frame is the structural part: it carries the weight of the doors and holds the top and bottom tracks true across the full run, so the load goes into the wardrobe rather than into your wall. Each door runs on its own track, which is what lets them pass one another.
Why this build matters
Canterbury Woodgrain Sliding Wardrobe London
Light oak woodgrain sliding wardrobe with black profiles.
About This Style
The Canterbury Woodgrain Sliding Wardrobe brings timber grain into a sliding design: light oak woodgrain panels with a visible vertical grain, framed in matt black profiles that draw each door as a crisp outline. Shown with a matching oak chest of drawers, it suits a bedroom that wants warmth rather than gloss.
The eleven renders show the woodgrain door in the layouts we offer, including the full panel, Equal 2, Central 3, Central 300 and 400, Two 300 and 400, Low 300 and 400, Top 400 and the Wide 400 band, and four of them swap a door for silver mirror so you can see how the two materials sit together.
The doors are built from premium 18mm MFC E1 Grade woodgrain boards, with silver mirror glass where specified, and run on a soft-close sliding mechanism with anti-jump rollers. A 200mm MFC supporting frame behind the doors carries their weight and is finished to match the carcass.
The layout shown measures 2400mm wide, 2400mm high and 680mm deep with a light oak interior. The internal layout is planned around what you own: double and long hanging, adjustable shelves, soft-close drawers, shoe storage, accessory trays and optional LED lighting.
Every Canterbury is made to measure and precision-manufactured in our Wembley, North London (HA9) workshop and installed by our own team, from the free home design consultation to the finished fit.
Backed by our 10-Year Parts and Labour Guarantee, the Canterbury pairs natural-looking oak with black detailing for a sliding wardrobe that feels closer to furniture than to fitted storage.

“Excellent from start to finish!! James visited on Saturday to quote and design. On Monday I called to book and today (Wed) 3 people of his team completed my fitted wardrobe. Team was very clean and mindful when moving things around and did an amazing job. Expectations met and exceeded at a very good price. Definitely recommend for high standards.”
“We had 2 wardrobes and a dressing table fitted from Metro. The fitters were very friendly and professional. The fitting team was also knowledgeable and they finished everything sooner than expected. The dressing table was left off of the order, but has been ordered and fitted in few days. Really impressed with the turnaround time with Metro. All in all a great experience. Would highly recommend them.”
“Just got my new fitted wardrobe from these guys and I couldn't be happier! Starting from the design visit to the installation everything was so fast and easy - the designer, Ranto, came to my house and helped me come up with the perfect design that fit my storage needs. He sent me the 3d design on the same day and also, did the changes until I liked the design. Then the fitting team, led by Kinjal, came and installed it all in just a 2 days. I love how my new wardrobe looks - it's exactly what I wanted. I would definitely recommend Metro!”
