The Parker draws a slim 60mm shaker frame into a single seamless board — the painted-frame look with not one joint for paint to crack along. Like every door in the MDF Painted collection it is machined from a single piece of 18mm E1-grade MDF — the profile routed, never joined — then primed in polyester and finished in polyurethane matt paint. No joints means nowhere for paint to crack: the flaw that ages painted joinery simply cannot happen here.

How it works: the 60mm frame profile is machined from a single piece of 18mm E1-grade MDF, primed in polyester and finished in polyurethane matt paint with a soft 2mm painted radius edge. The Parker, properly painted

The Parker is the shaker for the room that cannot carry a wide frame. Its stiles and rails are 60mm, so on a narrow door there is still a panel worth having, and on a run of six doors the frames do not add up to a grid. The pale grey shown is lighter than the rest of the family’s renders on purpose: with a slimmer frame and a paler colour, the same dark room feels a size bigger.

It is still painted MDF done properly — one piece, the recess routed, no joints — and it has one thing the wider shakers do not: it can be made as a curved door, to round off the end of a run instead of finishing on a square edge.

How it works: 18mm E1-grade MDF in a single piece, a 60mm frame and recessed panel cut on the CNC, 2mm radius edges, polyester primer and polyurethane matt paint in one of 33 standard colours, the 22 most popular shown on this page or matched to order. The room shown runs doors and top boxes to the cornice facing the bed, a second bank beside it, bedside chests and a dressing table, with slim brass bars throughout.

The Parker door: your questions answered

When is a 60mm frame the right choice?

When the doors are narrow or the room is small. A shaker frame takes the same width whatever the door, so on a 400mm door a 90mm frame leaves a panel barely wider than the frame itself, and a run of them turns into a grid. At 60mm the panel stays the main event. It is also the better frame for a wardrobe built in bays around a chimney breast.

What is a curved door for?

Finishing a run. Where a wardrobe ends in open floor rather than at a wall, a square end panel is a corner to walk into; a curved door turns the corner in the same painted finish and gives you a shallow cupboard in the rounded end. Parker curved doors are made up to 2250mm high and match the flat doors in colour and recess.

Is pale grey a good choice for a dark room?

It is the choice in the room shown, and it works because the doors become the light in the scheme — near-black walls, a walnut floor, and a wall of pale grey doors with brass bars. If the room were white, the same grey would read as a soft colour rather than as light. Both are good; they are different rooms.

How is the Parker different from the Hartford?

Only in frame width — 60mm against 90mm. Same one-piece MDF, same paint, same 33 colours, same guarantee. The Parker is lighter in proportion and can be made curved; the Hartford is broader and suits a taller, grander room. If you are unsure, your designer brings a sample of each and holds them against your wall.
