About This Style

The Campbell shares the Monroe’s 75mm proportion with a slightly softer profile — the door for rooms that want tradition without announcement. This page is the Campbell in full: a solid timber matt painted door — as the catalogue designates it — built from 20mm kiln-dried ash and hand-painted to the colour you choose.

How it works: 75mm solid ash stiles and rails frame a stable veneered centre panel; the finish is polyurethane matt paint with a 1mm chamfer painted through, and hinges are soft-close. Because the wood is real, the paint is renewable — the Campbell can be sanded and repainted in place years from now, so a colour change is a decorator’s visit, not a new wardrobe.

Make it yours: painted to order (shades matched at your free home visit), ten interior colours, floor-to-ceiling runs, over-bed builds, alcoves, walk-ins and corners — every carcass cut to your room in our Wembley workshop. Compare the family using the door styles above.

Every Campbell wardrobe is made to measure in North London and installed by our own fitters with a 10-year guarantee.

The Campbell, properly made

The Campbell is the quiet painted door. A plain shaker on 75mm solid ash stiles — flat frame, recessed panel, no bead and no moulding — it is what you choose when you want painted timber for its material and its repaintability, but not for any detail. In the forest green shown, it is the colour that speaks; the door keeps still.

That restraint is useful in a room with a sloping ceiling, as here. Doors of different heights stepped under the eaves can look busy if each carries a bead; on the Campbell every door is a plain frame, so the run reads as one calm wall whatever the ceiling does above it.

How it works: 20mm kiln-dried solid ash stiles and rails around a floating veneered centre panel, a 1mm chamfered edge painted through, and a matt paint in one of 34 standard colours, the 22 most popular shown on this page or matched to order. The arrangement shown wraps the bed with top boxes, built-in bedsides and a dressing table on the return, all with slim brass bars.

Designed around how you use your room

The Campbell is planned like any over-bed run: hanging in the tall bays, folded storage above the headboard, drawers at each bedside. What the plain frame adds is tolerance — it looks right at any door height.

  • Tall hanging bays either side of the bed
  • Top boxes over the headboard
  • Bedside drawers built in
  • Dressing table on the return, same green
  • Shelving and drawer banks inside
  • Slim brass bars
  • Forest green shown; 34 standard colours, the 22 most popular shown on this page, any other to order

Built for everyday use: a plain painted frame has nothing to collect dust and nothing to chip; a mark is touched in with a brush. The doors close on soft-close hinges.

The carcass interior is chosen at the design visit.

Manufactured in our Wembley workshop

A plain shaker in paint has one thing to get right: the recess must be the same depth on every door, or the shadow line changes from door to door under a raking light. It is one CNC setting in our HA9 Wembley factory, held across the run, the top boxes and the dressing table.

The stiles are cut from kiln-dried ash so the doors stay flat, painted and cured in the factory, and hung on site by our own fitters. It carries a 10-year parts and labour guarantee.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Campbell door: your questions answered

Campbell or Edison — how do I choose?
By the room. Both are 20mm solid ash under matt paint, both repaint in place. The Edison adds a bead around the panel on an 84mm stile and suits a room with mouldings to answer. The Campbell is plain on a 75mm stile and suits a room that wants colour without detail — or, as shown, a sloped ceiling where a row of stepped doors reads calmer without a bead on each.
Does a plain painted shaker look cheap?
Not in solid ash. What makes a plain shaker look cheap is a thin frame in a wrapped board with a shallow recess. The Campbell has a 75mm frame, a recess with real depth, and paint that sits on timber, so the shadow line under the panel is a proper shadow. Stand it beside a wrapped shaker in the same green and the difference is obvious.
Is the dressing table part of the wardrobe?
In the room shown, yes. It runs off the return in the same green, the same plain shaker fronts on its drawers, and the same brass bars, so it reads as the wardrobe turning the corner rather than a separate piece. It is planned and made with the run, at the height and depth you ask for.
Would the Campbell suit a pale colour?
Very well. A plain shaker in off-white or a soft stone is the most classic painted wardrobe there is, and because there is no bead to fill with light, a pale Campbell stays crisp. All 34 standard colours, the 22 most popular shown on this page are available, and anything else is matched to a swatch. The forest green shown is one end of the range, not the only one.
