The Chartwell Over-Bed Wardrobe is a made-to-measure bedroom storage system that combines Shaker-style fitted wardrobes with overhead bridging cabinets, making practical use of the wall above and around the bed.

Instead of using separate wardrobes, bedside tables and additional storage furniture, the Chartwell brings these elements together into one coordinated fitted arrangement. The example shown combines Cashmere Grey Shaker doors with a Cotta Cremona Oak interior, finished with slim black bar handles for a simple contrast against the neutral cabinetry.

How it works: full-height wardrobe sections are positioned alongside the bed, while bridging cabinets extend across the space above the headboard. These overhead cabinets provide additional enclosed storage without taking up extra floor space.

Importantly, the bridging cabinets are designed as part of the complete fitted run. They are securely fixed to the wall and supported by the full-height wardrobe towers on either side, rather than functioning as independent cabinets simply suspended above the bed.

The Chartwell uses Shaker doors routed from 18mm E1-grade board, hung on concealed soft-close hinges. The example design also incorporates integrated bedside storage, a fitted desk and LED lighting, allowing the furniture to work as a complete bedroom storage arrangement rather than only a wardrobe.

Making better use of the wall: the key advantage of the Chartwell is that storage continues alongside and above the bed. Bedding, luggage and seasonal items can be placed in the overhead cabinets, leaving the easier-to-reach full-height wardrobes available for clothes and everyday belongings.

Built for everyday use: the Chartwell uses an 18mm MFC construction, with Metro’s solid 18mm back, top and bottom forming the structural backbone of the fitted wardrobes. We do not use the customer’s bare bedroom wall as the back of the wardrobe.

The example shown combines a Cashmere Grey exterior with Cotta Cremona Oak internally, while alternative finishes and internal configurations can be selected to suit the room.
