Walk-In Wardrobes

Beaumont Walk-In Wardrobe

The Beaumont Walk-In Wardrobe is built around a dressing area rather than added to one. A lit mirror sits in a deep matt black surround at one end of the run, with its own vanity drawer beneath and a knee space clear for a stool, so the place you get dressed and the place you keep your clothes are the same piece of furniture.

The run works around a window rather than avoiding it. A nine-drawer bank sits below the sill at worktop height, which keeps the daylight and the view while turning the wall under a window — usually dead space in a bedroom — into the largest single block of folded storage in the room.

How it works: the Beaumont is built from E1-grade MFC in a matt black woodgrain, carried across the drawer fronts, the dressing table and the tall hanging unit so the whole arrangement reads as one piece. Brushed nickel bar handles run across every drawer, which is a deliberate choice on a dark finish — the metal gives the eye a line to follow where a handleless front would read as a flat black wall.

Lighting is concentrated where it is needed rather than spread everywhere. A warm white LED strip is set into the mirror surround, lighting your face from the side rather than from overhead, which is the difference between a mirror you can use and a mirror you avoid.

Designed around how you use your room

The Beaumont suits a bedroom or dressing room with a window on one wall and enough length on another for a hanging tower. It is planned around the window line, so the sizes below follow your sill height rather than a standard cabinet.

  • Dressing table with a lit mirror and a vanity drawer
  • Nine-drawer bank at worktop height, set below the window sill
  • Full-height hanging with a top box above
  • Shoe shelf at the base of the hanging tower
  • Brushed nickel bar handles throughout
  • Warm white LED lighting in the mirror surround
  • Matt black woodgrain inside and out
  • Made to measure around the window and the ceiling height

Built for everyday use: nine drawers sound like a lot until you separate what actually goes in them — knitwear, shirts, gym kit, underwear, scarves, swimwear. Splitting them across three columns means you are not lifting one pile to reach another.

The Beaumont shown here runs matt black woodgrain throughout. It is a strong finish and it wants daylight, which is exactly what the window wall gives it. Because every Beaumont is made to measure, the drawer bank is cut to the sill and the hanging tower to the ceiling, rather than leaving the gaps a standard carcase would.

The arrangement shown has a 600mm depth on the hanging tower, which is set by the width of a coat hanger and is the same on every Metro walk-in.

Manufactured in our Wembley workshop

A run that sits under a window has to be measured to the window, not to a catalogue. Your Beaumont is surveyed on site, then precision-manufactured in our HA9 Wembley factory so the drawer bank lands exactly beneath the sill and the worktop runs level across its full width.

Our beam saw optimises board usage to reduce waste, while CNC and six-sided drilling machine the components and the drilling points accurately — which is what keeps nine drawer fronts aligned across three columns rather than drifting by a millimetre each. Industrial edge-banding gives a consistent finished edge, and on a matt black woodgrain every edge is visible.

Every walk-in is measured and designed around your actual room before manufacture and professional installation.

Quality you can rely on: your Metro fitted wardrobe comes with a 10-year parts and labour guarantee, giving you added confidence in your investment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Beaumont Walk-In Wardrobe FAQs

Can the dressing table be left out, or moved?
Yes. The dressing table is a designed element of the Beaumont rather than a fixed part of it, so it can sit at either end of the run, move to a different wall, or come out altogether in favour of more hanging. What it needs is a clear knee space and somewhere sensible for the mirror to catch light, which is usually a wall at right angles to the window rather than facing it.
Why is the lighting in the mirror rather than overhead?
A downlight above a mirror puts your face in its own shadow. The LED strip in the Beaumont runs vertically down the mirror surround so the light arrives from the side at roughly face height, which is how a dressing room mirror should be lit and why the strip is warm white rather than cool.
Does the drawer bank have to go under a window?
No, but it is the reason this arrangement works. The wall beneath a window is usually wasted in a bedroom because nothing tall can go there. A drawer bank at worktop height fills it exactly, keeps the daylight, and gives you a surface to put things down on. If your room has no window on that wall, the same bank simply runs at the same height against a solid wall.
Is matt black too dark for a bedroom?
It is a strong finish and it needs daylight to work. In the arrangement shown it sits along a window wall, which balances it. In a room with one small window or a north aspect, your designer will usually suggest breaking it up — a lighter interior to the hanging bays, or the dressing area in a contrasting finish. Full-size samples are brought to your home so you can judge it in your own light.
Why bar handles rather than handleless?
On a dark matt front, handleless can read as a flat black wall with nothing for the eye to hold. The brushed nickel bars give the run a horizontal line and a point of contrast, and they are easier to use with wet or full hands. Handleless is available if you prefer it — it is a choice, not a constraint of the design.
How long does it take from design to installation?
A free home visit comes first, where your designer measures and draws the run against your window and ceiling. Once the design is signed off, manufacture and installation typically run to 21 days. The Beaumont has more machining than most walk-ins because of the nine-drawer bank, but it is all cut in our own Wembley factory rather than ordered in, so the timeline holds. The finished wardrobe carries a 10-year parts and labour guarantee.
How the space is divided

The Six Storage Zones

A walk-in is not one big cupboard — it is a set of zones, each sized for what goes in it. These are the six we build from, with the dimensions we actually work to. Your designer combines them around what you own rather than filling the run with a single repeated layout.
01
Double hang BEAUMONT WALK-IN
Two hanging tiers stacked in one bay. Each gives 950mm of clear hanging under an 18mm shelf, so the pair occupies 1936mm in total. It suits shirts, trousers, folded-over skirts and jackets, and it is the single most effective way to increase what a run holds — the same width of wardrobe carries twice the garments.

02
Full hang
The same 1936mm module as a double hang, used as a single drop of 1918mm clear beneath the shelf. This is where dresses, long coats and suit carriers go. Most rooms need far less full hang than people expect — two or three bays is usually plenty, and the rest is better given to double hang.

03
Drawer bank
A 600mm-high bank holding three soft-close drawers at 200mm each. Drawers are almost always specified at waist height rather than low down, because that is where you want the things you reach for daily — folded knitwear, underwear, belts and watches — without bending.

04
Open shelving
Shelves are set at 250 to 300mm apart as a minimum. A folded jumper wants 250mm; a stack of jeans or a handbag standing upright wants the full 300mm. Closer than 250mm and the shelf stops being usable for anything but paper-thin items, which is why the spacing is worth getting right at the design stage.

05
Shoe storage
Flat shelves at the base of a run, each with a raised front lip so nothing slides forward. Keeping shoes low leaves the eye level of the wardrobe clear for clothing, and the lip means a shelf can be shallow-set without anything tipping out when you pull a pair from the back.

06
The 600mm run
Every Metro walk-in run is 600mm deep, and that figure is not arbitrary — it is set by the width of a coat hanger, so anything shallower makes clothes sit at an angle and crush against the front. Two facing runs therefore use 1200mm of floor before anyone has walked anywhere, which is why two facing runs need a room of at least 2.1 metres across, and 3 metres to feel generous.
