Painted MDF gives a smooth, stable surface that takes clean lines and crisp profiles, which is why it is the most popular base for painted fitted wardrobes. Every door is routed and finished to order in our London workshop in the colour you choose.
MDF does not move with the seasons the way solid timber can, so painted joints stay closed and grooves stay sharp. It suits shaker, grooved and handleless designs from the contemporary collection as well as the classic profiles, and it is finished in the same workshop paint system as our painted timber doors. The doors hang on hinged, loft and over-bed wardrobes and match our bedsides and dressing tables.

Each MDF Painted door starts as a single moisture-resistant board. The profile, whether the Gladstone's 70mm frame, the Wellington's fine groove or the Arena's plain slab, is routed into that one piece, so there is no joint for paint to crack along and no frame to move with the seasons.
The paint is sprayed in several coats and cured, which is what gives a matt surface that reads like a plastered wall and matches from door to door. Five doors, 33 standard colours, and the same 18mm carcasses, soft-close hardware and fitting team as every Metro wardrobe.
A versatile material for beautifully fitted wardrobes
Painted MDF holds a crisp routed edge and a flat face better than any other painted door material, which is why it is the base for the Gladstone, Wellington, Hartford and Parker frames and the Arena slab. It does not shrink or swell like solid timber, so painted joints stay closed, grooves stay sharp and a run of ten doors still reads as one wall years later.

Each door is routed from one board, so the frame and the panel are the same piece; the differences are in the width of the frame and the line cut into it.

They are spray-finished, not brush-painted. The profile is routed into a single board, then the paint is applied in a spray booth in several coats and cured.
