Edged doors

Edged doors are the most wear-resistant in our library: an 18mm board cut to size, a face bonded flat under pressure and a 1mm edge fused to every side. Three ranges, high gloss, anti-fingerprint matt and woodgrain, made to measure in our London workshop.

THREE DOOR RANGES

The hardest-wearing doors we make.

The Edged collection is built for bedrooms that get used. Every door starts as an 18mm E1-grade board cut to your size; the face is bonded flat under pressure and a 1mm ABS edge is fused to all four sides, so the corners that take the knocks are the toughest part of the door. Choose the Phoenix for eight high gloss colours, the Tribeca for an anti-fingerprint superior matt, or the Vaasa for a woodgrain MFC finish, and pair any of them with slim bar handles or an integrated handle rail.

WHY CHOOSE EDGED?

A stronger edge, a longer life.

A wrapped door folds a single skin around its edges; an edged door fuses a separate strip to the cut board. That strip is harder than the face and shrugs off the knocks a wardrobe edge collects from hangers, vacuum cleaners and children, which is why the trade specifies edged doors for the rooms that see the most use. The Phoenix adds a high-scratch-resistance gloss face on top, so the light-returning finish lasts as long as the door.

The Edged · FAQ

Questions about edged wardrobe doors.

A door made by cutting an 18mm E1-grade board to your size, bonding the face finish flat to it under pressure, and fusing a separate 1mm ABS edge to all four sides. A wrapped door, such as our 5G Vinyl, folds one skin around the whole door; an edged door has a harder, separately applied edge, which is what makes the collection our most wear-resistant.

The Phoenix, in eight high gloss colours from white to metallic anthracite; the Tribeca, in an anti-fingerprint super matt; and the Vaasa, in woodgrains. The two Phoenix designs are shown on this page; ask your designer to bring the Tribeca and Vaasa samples to your home visit.

Yes, with two provisos. Gloss shows fingermarks around a handle, so the run shown uses slim bar handles that keep fingers off the face, and gloss shows any ripple in the board beneath, which is why the Phoenix face is bonded to a dead-flat MDF core. In return a gloss wall returns daylight to the room and makes a small or north-facing bedroom read larger. If you want the same door without the reflection, choose the Tribeca superior matt.

Yes. The 1mm ABS edge matches the face as standard, or can be specified as a multiplex edge, a fine layered line, or a glass-effect edge that reads as a thin bright outline around each door. It is a small detail that changes the character of a run considerably, and your designer brings samples of each.

Edged doors sit at Levels 3 and 4 of our twelve-level price guide: from £900 per metre in the ten Preferred Range colours, and £1,020 per metre with the wider palette of gloss, super-matt and woodgrain finishes, glass doors and built-in lighting, including VAT, delivery and installation. A two-metre wardrobe therefore starts at £1,800 to £2,040. Every quotation is fixed in writing after the free home design visit, and no deposit is taken at the visit.

5G Vinyl wraps one seamless skin around a shaped door, which is why every arch, groove and shaker profile comes from it. Edged doors are flat slabs with a bonded face and a fused edge, which is why they are the tougher choice and the only route to true high gloss. If you want shape, look at the 5G Vinyl collection; if you want the hardest-wearing flat door, you are on the right page.
