The Lined Shaker adds one refinement to the classic frame: twin scribed bead lines traced around the panel, the detail Victorian joiners used to finish their best work. The four doors in the family share that anatomy — pressed from a single 18mm E1-grade MDF board and wrapped in one seamless skin — and differ in frame width, from the Carlton’s 20mm to the Auckland’s 105mm. A loft fitted wardrobe turns exactly that space into storage: every door cut to the slope, every carcass built to the pitch of your roof, down to the last usable centimetre. Shown here on the Basel, our Lined Shaker door, with a study nook worked into the run.

How it works: at the home visit we measure the pitch and every height across the run; carcasses and angled-top doors are then cut in our Wembley workshop to follow the ceiling exactly — no filler triangles, no dead corners. The Lined Shaker family’s scribed-bead detail (routed into an 18mm E1-grade MDF core, wrapped in one seamless skin) keeps its rhythm even on sloped doors, which is why it is our first pick for eaves rooms. Soft-close hinges throughout; low-eaves sections open on lift-up or reduced-height doors as the slope demands.

The best storage in the house is under the roof

The Loft Fitted Wardrobe is built to a ceiling that is not flat. The run shown steps down door by door beneath a sloping roof, with a rooflight above, so the highest part of the room takes full-height hanging and the lowest part still holds a wardrobe rather than becoming the place boxes go to die.

The door is the Basel, a lined shaker on 60mm stiles with a fine bead run inside the rails. On a loft run that bead does a specific job: it gives every door the same detail whatever its height, so the short doors under the eaves read as part of the same wardrobe as the tall ones.

How it works: an 18mm E1-grade MDF door machined with a shaker frame and a single bead line, wrapped in 5G vinyl. Each door is cut to the angle of the ceiling above it at survey. Short brass bar handles are set at the same height on every door regardless of how tall the door is.

A desk nook with a lit shelf sits in the middle of the run, which is where the ceiling is highest and where a chair can sit without hitting the slope.

A loft wardrobe is planned from the roof down. The survey records the pitch and the height at every point along the wall, and the bays are drawn to fit it.

Built for everyday use: the lowest bays are drawn as drawers and shelves rather than hanging, because you cannot reach a rail that sits under the eaves.

The interior finish is chosen at the design visit.

Manufactured in our Wembley workshop

No two loft ceilings pitch the same, so the angled top rail on each stepped door is cut to the figure taken at survey rather than to a standard. That is done in our HA9 Wembley factory, door by door, before the vinyl goes on.

Each angled top rail is cut to the pitch recorded at survey, the shaker bead is machined by CNC, and the carcasses are scribed to the roof line on site to close the last gap.

The roof is measured at several points before we cut, the run is fitted by our own team, and it is guaranteed for 10 years.

Can you fit wardrobes under a sloping ceiling?

Yes — it is a Metro speciality. Carcasses and doors are cut to your measured pitch, so the wardrobe follows the slope exactly instead of stopping where a flat-pack would. Even the low knee-wall space becomes drawers or shoe storage.

What happens in the lowest part of the eaves?

The last usable half-metre becomes pull-out drawers, shoe trays or lift-lid boxes rather than hinged doors — planned at the design visit so nothing is wasted.

Why the Lined Shaker door for lofts?

Its twin scribed lines run parallel to the door edges, so even angled-top doors keep a calm, ordered rhythm — detail that flatters an irregular room rather than fighting it.

How do you fit a wardrobe under a sloping ceiling?

From the survey. The pitch and the height at every point along the wall are recorded, and each door is cut to the angle of the ceiling directly above it, so the run steps down in matching stages rather than stopping where the slope starts. The carcasses are scribed to the roof on site to close the gap.

Why put a desk in the wardrobe run?

Because the highest point of a loft is the only place a chair fits without the slope catching your head, and it is also where a rooflight tends to be. Putting the desk there uses the best light and the best headroom, and leaves the lower bays for the storage that does not need either.
