About This Style

The Albany Fitted Foyer Unit takes the wall beside the front door from floor to ceiling in sage slab doors with brass knobs. Two oak-lined niches lit from above carry a plant and a bowl for keys, a tall lit niche at the end takes a vase, and an open lit shoe bay runs along the floor so the shoes in use are not behind a door.

Crafted from 18mm MFC in a sage matt finish on solid-back carcasses, with concealed soft-close hinges, oak-effect linings in every open niche and LED strips on the hall switch, the unit is built to the width of the wall and the height of the ceiling.

Every foyer unit is made to measure in our Wembley, North London workshop and fitted by our own team. Backed by a 10-Year Parts and Labour Guarantee.

Fitted Foyer Units

Albany Fitted Foyer Unit

The Albany Fitted Foyer Unit is a made-to-measure hallway wall that takes everything an entrance needs from floor to ceiling: cupboards for coats and bags, lit niches for keys and a plant, and an open bay for the shoes in use. It is built to the width of your hall and the height of your ceiling, so the run finishes at the cornice rather than stopping short of it.

The finish is sage green matt slab with brass knobs, warmed by oak-effect linings in every open niche. The interiors are light oak woodgrain, so the cupboards read as furniture open as well as closed.

How it works: a bank of upper cupboards runs across the top, two lit display niches with a shelf between sit at eye height with cupboards beneath, a tall lit niche at the end takes a vase, and an open lit shoe bay runs along the floor. Every niche has an LED strip under its top on the hall switch.

Designed around how you come home

A hallway is used for thirty seconds at a time, so the order of the run matters: where you stop, where a hand goes with the keys, where a shoe comes off. Each foyer unit is planned around that sequence at the design visit, and around who lives in the house.

  • Upper cupboards across the top
  • Two oak-lined display niches, lit, with a shelf between
  • Tall lit niche at the end
  • Base cupboards for bags and the vacuum
  • Open lit shoe bay along the floor
  • Brass knobs and concealed soft-close hinges
  • Integrated LED strip lighting (warm white, white and yellow)
  • Built to the ceiling, with no gap above

Built for everyday use: the fronts at boot height carry a softened 2mm edge rather than a square one, the open niches are lined in oak-effect board that hides scuffs, and every carcass has a solid 18mm back fixed to the wall, so the run stands square on a hallway floor that rarely is.

Manufactured in our Wembley workshop

Your Albany is made to measure and cut in our HA9 Wembley factory from the survey of your hall. The beam saw cuts each carcass panel to its own size, the CNC drills the hinge and shelf positions, and the industrial edge-bander finishes every visible edge, so the doors and niches leave the workshop as one matched set.

The hall width, ceiling height, skirting, the door swing and the position of the light switch are all measured at your design visit, and the run is scribed to the walls and floor on installation.

Quality you can rely on: your Metro fitted furniture comes with a 10-year guarantee covering parts and labour.

“We had 2 wardrobes and a dressing table fitted from Metro. The fitters were very friendly and professional. The fitting team was also knowledgeable and they finished everything sooner than expected. The dressing table was left off of the order, but has been ordered and fitted in few days. Really impressed with the turnaround time with Metro. All in all a great experience. Would highly recommend them.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Albany Fitted Foyer Unit FAQs

What is the Albany Fitted Foyer Unit?
A made-to-measure hallway wall in sage slab with brass knobs: cupboards from floor to ceiling, oak-lined display niches lit from above, and an open lit shoe bay along the floor. It is built to your hall width and ceiling height in our Wembley workshop and fitted by our own team.
How much wall does it need?
The Albany shown takes about 2.1 metres and runs to the ceiling. On a shorter wall the tall end cupboard is dropped; on a longer one a second bank of niches is added. The depth is planned to leave a clear walkway, usually 350 to 450mm.
Why is the shoe bay open?
Because the shoes in daily use never make it behind a door. An open, lit, oak-lined bay at the floor takes them without a cupboard to open, and wipes clean. The shoes not in use go in the base cupboards.
Can I have a different colour or door style?
Yes. The same run can be made in any of our painted colours or woodgrains, in slab or shaker doors, with black, brass or knob handles. Samples are brought to your home so the colour is chosen in your hallway light.
Do you fit foyer units across London?
Yes. Metro designs, manufactures and installs fitted foyer and hallway units across London and the surrounding counties. The run is fitted within 21 days of your order being confirmed, usually in a single day on site, and carries a 10-year guarantee.
Edge Detail

The Two Hallway Edge Details

On a hallway unit the edges that matter are the ones hands, bags and shoes touch every day. These are the details we work to; your designer specifies them at the survey.
01
1mm ABS Square Edge ALBANY FOYER UNIT
The standard edge on a shaker door: a 1mm band in the same colour as the face, applied by machine and trimmed square. It is the edge on the coat cupboard and the upper doors, above the height anything knocks into them, where the cleanest line matters most.

02
2mm ABS Softened Edge
A thicker 2mm band with the corner taken off to a small radius. It is specified on the bench front, the drawer fronts under the seat and the base cupboard doors: the fronts at shin and boot height in a hallway, where a square edge chips and a softened one shrugs it off.
