About This Style

The Hanover Fitted Foyer Unit is a hall console built into the wall: grey-green shaker doors with brass knobs above and below a wide lit niche at worktop height, with a mirror behind it for the last look before the door. A narrow column of lit oak shelves stands at one end, and an open lit shoe bay runs under the base cupboards.

Crafted from 18mm MDF with the shaker recess routed into a single board, on solid-back carcasses with concealed soft-close hinges, an oak-effect worktop and LED strips on the hall switch, the unit is built to the width of the wall and the height of the ceiling.

Every foyer unit is made to measure in our Wembley, North London workshop and fitted by our own team. Backed by a 10-Year Parts and Labour Guarantee.

Fitted Foyer Units

Hanover Fitted Foyer Unit

The Hanover Fitted Foyer Unit is a made-to-measure hallway console that puts the things an entrance needs at the height a hand reaches: a lit worktop niche for keys and post with a mirror behind it, cupboards above and below, a lit shelf column for the things that are looked at, and an open bay for the shoes in use.

The finish is grey-green shaker with brass knobs, warmed by an oak-effect worktop and shelf column. The interiors are light oak woodgrain.

How it works: upper cupboards run across the top with an LED strip beneath; the open niche sits at 900mm on an oak top with a mirror on its back; base cupboards take the vacuum and the bags; a narrow column of lit oak shelves closes one end; and an open lit shoe bay runs along the floor.

Designed around how you come home

A hallway is used for thirty seconds at a time, so the order of the run matters: where you stop, where a hand goes with the keys, where a shoe comes off. Each foyer unit is planned around that sequence at the design visit, and around who lives in the house.

  • Upper cupboards across the top
  • Lit worktop niche at 900mm with a mirror back
  • Lit oak shelf column at one end
  • Base cupboards for bags and the vacuum
  • Open lit shoe bay along the floor
  • Brass knobs and concealed soft-close hinges
  • Integrated LED strip lighting (warm white, white and yellow)
  • Built to the ceiling, with no gap above

Built for everyday use: the fronts at boot height carry a softened 2mm edge rather than a square one, the open niches are lined in oak-effect board that hides scuffs, and every carcass has a solid 18mm back fixed to the wall, so the run stands square on a hallway floor that rarely is.

Manufactured in our Wembley workshop

Your Hanover is made to measure and cut in our HA9 Wembley factory from the survey of your hall. The beam saw cuts each carcass panel to its own size, the CNC drills the hinge and shelf positions, and the industrial edge-bander finishes every visible edge, so the doors and niches leave the workshop as one matched set.

The hall width, ceiling height, skirting, the door swing and the position of the light switch are all measured at your design visit, and the run is scribed to the walls and floor on installation.

Quality you can rely on: your Metro fitted furniture comes with a 10-year guarantee covering parts and labour.

Frequently Asked Questions

Hanover Fitted Foyer Unit FAQs

What is the Hanover Fitted Foyer Unit?
A made-to-measure hallway console in grey-green shaker with brass knobs: cupboards above and below a wide lit niche at worktop height with a mirror back, a lit oak shelf column at one end, and an open lit shoe bay along the floor. It is built to your hall in our Wembley workshop and fitted by our own team.
Why is there a mirror in the niche?
Because the niche is where you stop on the way out, with the keys and the post, and the mirror gives the last look before the door without a separate mirror on the wall. It is lit from above by the strip under the upper cupboards.
How much wall does it need?
The Hanover shown takes about 2.1 metres to the ceiling. The shelf column can be dropped on a shorter wall, and the niche widened on a longer one. The depth is planned to leave a clear walkway, usually 350 to 450mm.
Can I have a different colour or door style?
Yes. The same run can be made in any of our painted colours or woodgrains, in slab or shaker doors, with black, brass or knob handles. Samples are brought to your home so the colour is chosen in your hallway light.
Do you fit foyer units across London?
Yes. Metro designs, manufactures and installs fitted foyer and hallway units across London and the surrounding counties. The run is fitted within 21 days of your order being confirmed, usually in a single day on site, and carries a 10-year guarantee.
Edge Detail

The Two Hallway Edge Details

On a hallway unit the edges that matter are the ones hands, bags and shoes touch every day. These are the details we work to; your designer specifies them at the survey.
01
1mm ABS Square Edge HANOVER FOYER UNIT
The standard edge on a shaker door: a 1mm band in the same colour as the face, applied by machine and trimmed square. It is the edge on the coat cupboard and the upper doors, above the height anything knocks into them, where the cleanest line matters most.

02
2mm ABS Softened Edge
A thicker 2mm band with the corner taken off to a small radius. It is specified on the bench front, the drawer fronts under the seat and the base cupboard doors: the fronts at shin and boot height in a hallway, where a square edge chips and a softened one shrugs it off.
