Fitted Foyer Units

Savile Fitted Foyer Unit

The Savile Fitted Foyer Unit is a made-to-measure hallway console for a short wall: it stays low so the hall keeps its light, and still gives a place to sit, a surface for keys, doors for the shoes and a mirror for the last look.

The finish is cream matt slab with brass knobs on an oak-effect top and plinth, with a walnut-effect slatted panel behind. The interiors are light oak woodgrain.

How it works: two double-door cupboards on a solid-back carcass sit on an oak plinth under an oak top at 850mm; a bench end at 450mm has a solid 18mm seat with a cushion and an open bay beneath for shoes; the slatted panel is fixed to an 18mm back board and the round mirror hangs through it into timber.

Designed around how you come home

A hallway is used for thirty seconds at a time, so the order of the run matters: where you stop, where a hand goes with the keys, where a shoe comes off. Each foyer unit is planned around that sequence at the design visit, and around who lives in the house.

  • Two double-door cupboards with brass knobs
  • Oak-effect top at 850mm and plinth
  • Bench end with a solid 18mm seat and cushion
  • Open bay under the bench for shoes
  • Walnut slatted panel on a solid back board
  • Round mirror hung into timber
  • Concealed soft-close hinges
  • Made to the width of your wall

Built for everyday use: the fronts at boot height carry a softened 2mm edge rather than a square one, the open niches are lined in oak-effect board that hides scuffs, and every carcass has a solid 18mm back fixed to the wall, so the run stands square on a hallway floor that rarely is.

Manufactured in our Wembley workshop

Your Savile is made to measure and cut in our HA9 Wembley factory from the survey of your hall. The beam saw cuts each carcass panel to its own size, the CNC drills the hinge and shelf positions, and the industrial edge-bander finishes every visible edge, so the doors, drawers and niches leave the workshop as one matched set.

The hall width, ceiling height, skirting, the door swing and the position of the light switch are all measured at your design visit, and the run is scribed to the walls and floor on installation.

Quality you can rely on: your Metro fitted furniture comes with a 10-year guarantee covering parts and labour.

“I was very pleased with my wardrobe fitted by Metro. By having a custom design I could have exactly the spacing and layout I wanted. They came out to me so we could match the colour to my existing inbuilt wardrobe. Any changes I wanted in the design Mike was quick to do and send me updated previews. It also came in considerably cheaper than a well known wardrobes brand. A couple of snagging issues as you'd expect, and other than some mild chasing I had to do they put it right and all was good. I'd happily recommend them.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Savile Fitted Foyer Unit FAQs

What is the Savile Fitted Foyer Unit?
A made-to-measure low hallway console in cream slab with brass knobs on an oak top and plinth, a cushioned bench at one end, and a walnut slatted panel behind carrying a round mirror. It is built to your hall in our Wembley workshop and fitted by our own team.
Why a low unit rather than a full wall?
Where the wall is short or the hall is narrow, a floor-to-ceiling run closes the space in. The Savile stays at 850mm, so the hall keeps its light and its width, and still gives a seat, a surface for keys, cupboards for shoes and a mirror.
Can the bench be on the other end, or left out?
Yes. The bench end goes on whichever side the door swings away from, and on a very short wall the console is made without it. The slatted panel and mirror are sized to the console beneath.
Can I have a different colour or door style?
Yes. The same run can be made in any of our painted colours or woodgrains, in slab or shaker doors, with black, brass or knob handles. Samples are brought to your home so the colour is chosen in your hallway light.
Do you fit foyer units across London?
Yes. Metro designs, manufactures and installs fitted foyer and hallway units across London and the surrounding counties. The run is fitted within 21 days of your order being confirmed, usually in a single day on site, and carries a 10-year guarantee.
Edge Detail

The Three Hallway Edge Details

In a hallway the edges are where the boots are — the bench front, the drawers under the seat, the base doors a bag swings into. These are the edges we specify a softened band on, and the seat is banded before it is upholstered. Your designer confirms them at the visit.
01
1mm ABS Square Edge SAVILE FOYER UNIT
The standard edge on a shaker door: a 1mm band in the same colour as the face, applied by machine and trimmed square. It is the edge on the coat cupboard and the upper doors, above the height anything knocks into them, where the cleanest line matters most.

02
2mm ABS Softened Edge
A thicker 2mm band with the corner taken off to a small radius. It is specified on the bench front, the drawer fronts under the seat and the base cupboard doors: the fronts at shin and boot height in a hallway, where a square edge chips and a softened one shrugs it off.

03
Banded Seat Edge
The front edge of the bench seat, where wet coats are dropped and boots are pulled off. The 18mm seat board is banded on its front and both ends before the cushion goes on, so there is no raw core for water to reach, and the band is the softened 2mm type so a shin meets a radius rather than a corner.
