About This Style

Faraday Home Office

A lovely bit of fitted joinery for anyone who wants their workspace to feel a bit more considered. The Faraday run pairs warm, natural oak tones with clean slab-fronted doors and drawers, giving the whole thing a calm, put-together look rather than something bolted on as an afterthought.

Finished in Natural Casella Oak H1385 ST40, the grain carries through nicely across the cupboard doors, drawer fronts and worktop, so the whole run reads as one continuous piece rather than separate bits of furniture pushed together. Brushed brass knobs add a nice bit of warmth against the timber, and everything's built on an 18mm solid-back unit using premium E1-grade melamine-faced board, so it's sturdy enough for daily use without being over-engineered.

This layout brings together a two-door cupboard for bulkier storage, a bank of four deep drawers, and a proper kneehole desk space with room for a chair underneath—perfect for tucking into an awkward eave or loft space and still getting a full working desk out of it. A slimmer two-drawer unit finishes the run at the far end, handy for keeping stationery and odds and ends close to hand.

Door Edge Detail

The 6 Edge Profiles

The Six Edge Profiles

A door's edge profile is the shape cut into its top and side edges where the finish wraps around the MDF core. It's a small detail but it changes how a closed door catches the light and how the door reads to the touch.
01
Chamfered DYLAN
18mm or 22mm core, with a soft 3mm radius on the top-front edge. The most popular profile across in-frame and contemporary doors.

02
10mm Stepped Chamfer
18mm core with a 10mm chamfered step on the top edge — adds a subtle bevel that catches the light at the door's top line.

03
1mm Chamfered Edge
A near-sharp edge with a 1mm chamfer — gives doors a crisp, architectural feel. Common on slab and minimalist styles.

04
20mm Stepped Profile
A pronounced 20mm step that creates a defined shadow line along the top edge. Adds visible architectural detail to flat-panel styles.

05
25mm Gentle Curve
A wide 25mm rolled edge — the softest profile in the range. Reads as a hand-shaped, traditional joinery detail. Often paired with shaker and panelled designs.
