Bespoke Fitted Laundry Rooms

Fulham Fitted Laundry Room

The Fulham is the laundry room done as one piece of furniture. Two tall cupboards frame the wall, and everything between them works in the order of the job: the dirty washing goes into a pull-out basket, the machines sit side by side beneath a worktop that is long enough to fold on, the sink takes the hand-washing and the soaking, and the clean things go up onto the rail or the shelves in the lit bay above.

The finish is a warm greige shaker with slim brass bar handles and a brass tap, and the worktop is a pale stone that does not mind a wet basket. The hanging bay is open and lit from above, so shirts come out of the dryer and straight onto hangers, and the shelves beside it take the folded towels.

How it works: the run is a set of 18mm solid-back carcasses on a continuous plinth, with the appliance bay sized to the two machines and ventilated at the back. The pull-out basket units either side of the machines run on full-extension runners with a removable canvas basket in each, one for lights and one for darks. The worktop spans the machines on a rail so it does not bear on them; the sink is undermounted with the waste and the machine services inside the sink unit.

The tall cupboards take the ironing board, the hoover and the linen; the wall units take the detergents and the things that should not be seen.

Designed for the laundry, not the utility

A laundry room differs from a utility room in what it does not have to do: no boots, no dog, no recycling. That frees the wall for the washing itself, which is why the Fulham gives a whole bay to hanging and a whole worktop to folding, and why the baskets are built into the run rather than standing on the floor in front of it.

  • Washer and dryer side by side in a ventilated bay
  • Continuous stone worktop with an undermounted sink and brass tap
  • Pull-out laundry basket units either side of the machines
  • Lit hanging bay with a solid rail and open shelves above
  • Shaker wall units for detergents and cloths
  • Tall cupboard at each end for the board, the hoover and the linen
  • Greige factory paint with slim brass bar handles
  • Built to the ceiling and scribed to the walls

Designed for the room: the machines can stack in one tall housing where the wall is short, the hanging bay can become a drying cabinet, an ironing board can pull out of a drawer, and the whole run is made in any of our painted colours with brass, black or nickel handles.

Built for everyday use: the paint is a factory lacquer that wipes clean, the basket runners take a full wet load, the worktop is a non-porous stone, and the appliance bay has the depth and the ventilation the machine makers specify.

The Fulham shown fills a wall about 3.6 metres wide and 2.4 metres high; the same run is drawn to your room, your machines and your plumbing at the design visit.

Manufactured in our Wembley workshop

The Fulham is cut, built and painted in our HA9 Wembley factory from the survey of your room. The shaker doors are made and sprayed as one batch so the colour is the same across the wall, the basket units are assembled and hung in the workshop, and the appliance bay is built to the machine drawings.

The wall, the ceiling, the window, the water and waste positions, the power and the machine models are recorded at your design visit, and the drawings show your plumber and electrician what to move before we fit.

Quality you can rely on: your Metro fitted furniture comes with a 10-year guarantee on our product.

Frequently Asked Questions

Fulham Fitted Laundry Room FAQs

What is the Fulham Fitted Laundry Room?
A full wall of greige shaker cabinetry built around the washing: a washer and dryer side by side under a stone worktop and sink, pull-out laundry baskets either side of them, a lit hanging bay with shelves above, wall units and a tall cupboard at each end. It is made to your room in our Wembley workshop and fitted by our own team.
Why side by side rather than stacked?
Because the worktop over two machines is the most useful surface in a laundry room: it is where the folding happens. Stacking saves 600mm of width and suits a narrow room, and the Fulham can be drawn that way, but where the wall allows it, side by side with a worktop above is the better laundry.
What are the pull-out baskets for?
Sorting. One takes lights, one takes darks, each in a removable canvas basket on a full-extension runner, so the washing is sorted as it is dropped in and lifted out straight into the machine beside it. They replace the baskets that otherwise stand on the floor in front of the machines.
Can the hanging bay be a drying cabinet?
Yes. The open bay with a rail is for hanging shirts straight from the dryer; a drying cabinet is the same bay with a door and warm circulating air, for households that dry daily or have a lot of delicates. Both are built into the run in the same position.
Who supplies the machines and the worktop?
You choose the machines and we build the bay to their drawings; most clients buy them and we set them in. The worktop is templated after the cabinets are fitted and quoted separately with the sink and tap. Water, waste and power are marked on our drawings for your plumber and electrician.
How long does it take to fit?
Fitted within 21 days of your order being confirmed, usually in two days on site after the plumber's first fix. Our fitters fix and scribe the run, set the machines and the baskets, and fit the rail and the lighting; the worktop follows once it is templated.
