About This Style

The Shoreditch Oak Handleless Kitchen is an L-shaped kitchen in light oak woodgrain with a black recessed grip rail on every front, a dark grey stone worktop and a bank of black tall units carrying the ovens and a full-height fridge-freezer. A walnut dining table runs off the end of the worktop so the kitchen and the dining space read as one piece of furniture.

The six renders show the whole L from the dining end, the black tower beside the table, the main worktop run, the sink under lit wall units, the corner with its gas hob and extractor, and a lit floating oak shelf. Cabinets are made to the room in Wembley, installed by the team that built them, with ten years of cover on every part.

Shoreditch Oak Handleless Kitchen

The Shoreditch Oak Handleless Kitchen is planned for an open-plan room where the kitchen and the dining table share one wall of light. A long run of light oak handleless units carries the sink and hob under lit wall units, returns under the window, and ends in a bank of black tall units with the ovens at eye level and a full-height fridge-freezer. A walnut dining table runs off the end of the worktop at the same height.

The finish is a textured light oak woodgrain with a black recessed grip rail along the top of every front, so the run reads as warm timber with a fine black line between the drawers. The dark grey stone worktop and black tall units frame the oak rather than compete with it.

How it works: the base units are made-to-measure carcasses with a black anodised grip rail set into the top edge of each front in the workshop. Drawers run on full-extension soft-close runners; doors hang on concealed soft-close hinges. The tall bank is built as housings for the appliance models you choose.

Designed around how you cook and gather

An L-shape keeps the sink, the hob and the fridge within a few steps of each other, and the return under the window gives a second preparation surface. Putting the dining table on the end of the run means the cook is never cut off from the table.

  • L-shaped run with sink and hob under lit wall units
  • Return under the window with a lit floating oak shelf
  • Black tall unit bank with eye-level double oven and fridge-freezer
  • Walnut dining table at worktop height on the end of the run
  • Black recessed grip rail on every door and drawer
  • Dark grey stone worktop and upstand, templated in place
  • Full-extension soft-close drawers, concealed soft-close hinges
  • Light oak woodgrain fronts, Cotta Cremona Oak interiors

Designed for the room: the run shown is about 3.6 metres along the main wall and 3.0 metres on the return, with a 2.4 metre tall bank. The same pieces are drawn to your room at the design visit.

Manufactured in our Wembley workshop

Every panel of the Shoreditch is cut in our HA9 Wembley factory to the survey of your room: the beam saw sizes every carcass panel, the CNC drills the hinge and runner positions, and the edge-bander finishes every visible edge, so the run arrives as one matched set.

The oak fronts are cut in sequence from the same boards so the grain runs continuously round the corner of the L, and the grip rail is machined into each front before it is banded.

At the design visit we record the room, the light, the services and the appliance models; on installation the units are scribed to the walls and the floor.

Quality you can rely on: your Metro fitted kitchen comes with a 10-year guarantee covering parts and labour.

“We had 2 wardrobes and a dressing table fitted from Metro. The fitters were very friendly and professional. The fitting team was also knowledgeable and they finished everything sooner than expected. The dressing table was left off of the order, but has been ordered and fitted in few days. Really impressed with the turnaround time with Metro. All in all a great experience. Would highly recommend them.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Shoreditch Oak Handleless Kitchen FAQs

What is the Shoreditch Oak Handleless Kitchen?
An L-shaped handleless kitchen in light oak woodgrain: a long run with the sink and hob, a return under the window, a bank of black tall units for the ovens and fridge-freezer, and a walnut dining table running off the end of the worktop. Made in Wembley to your room and fitted by Metro's own team.
Is the oak real timber?
It is a textured oak woodgrain board, so it has the grain and colour of oak with the stability and wipe-clean surface a kitchen needs. Fronts are cut in sequence so the grain runs continuously along the run.
What is the black grip rail?
A black anodised aluminium rail set into the top edge of every door and drawer front, so you open them with your fingertips and the black line becomes part of the design. It is fitted in the workshop, not clipped on afterwards.
Can the dining table be part of the kitchen?
Yes, as shown: the walnut table is made to the same height as the worktop and butts up to the end of the run, so it works as extra preparation space and as the dining table. It can be freestanding or fixed.
Which worktop is shown?
A dark grey stone composite with a matching upstand. Quartz, granite, quartzite, porcelain and timber are all available; the worktop is templated after the cabinets are fitted and quoted separately.
Can I have a different colour?
Yes. The Shoreditch is shown in light oak with black tall units. The same kitchen can be made in any of our woodgrains or painted colours, and the tall units can match the run or contrast as shown.
Edge Detail

The Three Kitchen Edge Details

In a kitchen the edges are where the water and the knocks are: the worktop joint at the sink, the drawer fronts at hip height, the wall units at eye level. These are the edges we specify, and your designer confirms them at the visit.
01
1mm ABS Square Edge SHOREDITCH KITCHEN
The standard edge on a slab kitchen door: a 1mm band in the same colour or grain as the face, applied by machine and trimmed square. It is the edge on the wall units and the tall housings, where the cleanest line matters most.

02
2mm ABS Softened Edge
A thicker 2mm band with the corner taken off to a small radius. It goes on the base unit doors and the pan drawer fronts, the fronts a hip meets and a pan handle catches, where a square edge chips and a softened one takes it.

03
Sealed Worktop Joint
The kitchen edge. Where the worktop meets the wall, the sink and the hob cut-out, the joint is sealed so water runs across the top and off it rather than into the board beneath. The upstand covers the wall joint; the sink and hob cut-outs are sealed on the day the stone is fitted.
