About This Style

The Audley Walnut Slatted Wall Panel divides an open-plan room without a wall. Floor-to-ceiling tobacco walnut slat panels sit between plain painted bays along the long wall, so the dining end and the sofa end each have a panel behind them and the room reads as two places with one finish.

Made as battened panels with slats 24mm wide and 18mm deep at 12mm gaps on an 18mm backer, fixed to the wall on battens with a shadow gap at the ceiling and finished returns at each bay, the panels are drawn to your wall, your doors and your sockets.

Every wall panel is made in our Wembley, North London workshop and fitted by our own team. Backed by a 10-Year Parts and Labour Guarantee.

Bespoke Slatted Wall Panels

Audley Walnut Slatted Wall Panel

The Audley is the panelling for an open-plan room: tobacco walnut slats from floor to ceiling in panels along the long wall, with plain bays between them, so the dining table and the sofa each sit against timber and the room is divided without a wall.

Slats are 24mm wide and 18mm deep at 12mm gaps on a black felt backer, so the walnut reads as a dark rhythm along the wall and the plain bays between read as pauses.

How it works: the wall is battened at 400mm centres to give a true plane, and the slats are fixed to an 18mm backer board in the workshop in panels up to 1.2 metres wide, so the spacing is identical across the wall and the joins fall behind a slat. The slats stop 10mm short of the ceiling and the corners with a shadow gap, so the panel is never scribed to a wall that is not straight.

Designed for a room that does two things

An open-plan room needs its ends to feel different without being cut apart. The Audley puts a walnut panel behind the dining table and another behind the sofa, with a plain bay between, so each end has a backdrop and the eye still runs the length of the room.

  • Tobacco walnut slats floor to ceiling, in panels
  • Slats 24mm wide, 18mm deep, 12mm gaps on black felt
  • Plain painted bays between the panels
  • Finished returns at every panel edge
  • Battened at 400mm centres; the plaster is untouched
  • Panels made in the workshop, joins hidden behind a slat
  • Shadow gap at the ceiling
  • Optional LED wash from the top rail of each panel

Designed for the room: the panels can be wider or narrower, run to the corners, or carry a TV plate or a floating shelf; the walnut can be oak, black oak or a painted colour on a felt of the same tone.

Built for everyday use: the slats are veneered on a stable core so they do not cup, the felt behind is fire-rated, and the panels are fixed through the backer into the battens, so a shelf, a screen plate or a picture rail can be fixed anywhere along the wall.

Manufactured in our Wembley workshop

The Audley is made as numbered panels in our HA9 Wembley factory: the slats are cut and spaced on the CNC, glued and pinned to the backer, and the panels are labelled to a drawing of your wall, so the fitters hang them in order and the joins disappear.

The wall, the ceiling, the corners, the sockets and the switches are measured at your design visit, and the panels are drawn around them so a socket sits in a gap, not behind a slat.

Quality you can rely on: your Metro fitted furniture comes with a 10-year guarantee covering parts and labour.

Frequently Asked Questions

Audley Walnut Slatted Wall Panel FAQs

What is the Audley Walnut Slatted Wall Panel?
A run of floor-to-ceiling tobacco walnut slat panels set between plain painted bays along the long wall of an open-plan room, so the dining end and the sofa end each have a panel behind them. It is made as battened, numbered panels in our Wembley workshop and fitted by our own team.
Why panels rather than the whole wall?
Because a seven-metre wall of slats is a lot of one thing. Panels between plain bays give the room rhythm, put the timber where the furniture is, and leave the bays for a painting, a door or a radiator.
Can a panel carry the television or a shelf?
Yes. A recessed TV plate with a cable void, or a floating shelf on a concealed rail, is built into any panel, as on our Putney and Hertford TV walls.
Can the slats be a different timber or a colour?
Yes. Oak, black oak, walnut, ash and painted slats are all made the same way, and the felt behind is chosen to match or to contrast. Samples of the slat and the felt are brought to your home so the tone is chosen in your light.
What about sockets and switches?
They are measured at the design visit and the panels are drawn around them, so a socket sits in a gap between slats with a matching surround, or is moved into the skirting run by your electrician before we fit.
How long does it take to fit?
Fitted within 21 days of your order being confirmed, usually in a day on site. Our fitters set the battens to a true plane, hang the numbered panels, and fit any shelf, plate or lighting.
