Putney Slatted TV Wall Panel London

The Putney is the media wall without the media unit: the television and the panelling do the work, and the storage is a single floating drawer unit at low level. The oak slats run the full height of the wall so the room reads as one warm plane, the screen sits in it rather than on it, and nothing on the wall is a box.

Slats are 24mm wide and 18mm deep at 12mm gaps, set on a black felt backer, so the shadow between them reads as a line rather than a gap. The floating unit beneath is matt black with two drawers and an open shelf for a soundbar, fixed to the wall with no legs, so the floor runs under it.

How it works: the wall is battened at 400mm centres to give a true plane, and the slats are fixed to an 18mm backer board in the workshop in panels up to 1.2 metres wide, so the spacing is identical across the wall and the joins fall behind a slat. A recessed plate for the TV bracket is built into one panel with a 50mm void behind it, and the power and HDMI drop inside the void to the floating unit. The LED channel sits in the top rail behind a small lip, so the light source is never seen.

The slats stop 10mm short of the ceiling and the corners with a shadow gap, so the panel is never scribed to a wall that is not straight.

Designed for a room that watches television

A screen on a painted wall is a black rectangle; a screen on a slatted wall is part of a surface. The Putney gives the wall texture and warmth, hides every cable, and keeps the floor clear beneath a floating unit, which is what makes a small living room feel larger with a large television in it.

Designed for the room: the slats can be walnut, ash or a painted colour on a felt of the same tone, the floating unit can be longer, deeper or lit underneath, and the panel can stop at a door or a window with a finished return.

Built for everyday use: the slats are oak-veneered on a stable core so they do not cup, the felt behind is fire-rated, and the TV plate is fixed through the backer into the battens so it takes any screen up to 85 inches.

The Putney shown covers a wall about 4.0 metres wide and 2.4 metres high; the same panel is drawn to your wall, your screen size and your sockets at the design visit.

Manufactured in our Wembley workshop

The Putney is made in our HA9 Wembley factory as a set of slatted panels cut to your wall. The slats are ripped, veneered and spaced on a jig so every gap is 12mm, the TV plate and the LED channel are routed into the backer before the slats go on, and each panel is numbered for its position on the wall.

The wall width, the ceiling height, the socket positions and the screen size are measured at your design visit, and the battens are set to a true plane on installation before the panels are hung.
