About This Style

The Hertford Oak Slatted TV Wall Panel puts a pale oak slat panel into a dark wall, so the television sits on a warm surface rather than a black one. The panel runs floor to ceiling in the middle of the wall, the screen mounts on a hidden plate with the cables in the void behind, and a long floating oak shelf runs beneath for the plants and the soundbar.

Made as battened panels with slats 24mm wide and 18mm deep at 12mm gaps on an 18mm backer, a recessed TV plate with a 50mm cable void, and a floating shelf on a concealed rail, the panel is drawn to your wall, your screen and your sockets.

Every wall panel is made in our Wembley, North London workshop and fitted by our own team. Backed by a 10-Year Parts and Labour Guarantee.

Bespoke Slatted Wall Panels

Hertford Oak Slatted TV Wall Panel

The Hertford is the television wall for a room that has been painted dark: a pale oak slat panel in the middle of the wall carries the screen, a floating oak shelf runs beneath it, and the charcoal wall either side frames both.

Slats are 24mm wide and 18mm deep at 12mm gaps on a black felt backer, so the pale oak reads as lines of light against the dark wall, with or without the television on.

How it works: the wall is battened at 400mm centres to give a true plane, and the slats are fixed to an 18mm backer board in the workshop in panels up to 1.2 metres wide, so the spacing is identical across the wall and the joins fall behind a slat. The slats stop 10mm short of the ceiling and the corners with a shadow gap, so the panel is never scribed to a wall that is not straight.

Designed for a room that watches television

A screen on a dark painted wall disappears when it is off and glares when it is on; a screen on a pale slatted panel is part of a surface either way. The Hertford gives the television a place, hides every cable, and puts the soundbar and the plants on a shelf with no legs, so the floor runs under it.

  • Pale oak slats floor to ceiling, set into a dark wall
  • Slats 24mm wide, 18mm deep, 12mm gaps on black felt
  • Hidden TV plate with a 50mm cable void behind
  • Floating oak shelf on a concealed rail
  • Battened at 400mm centres; the plaster is untouched
  • Panels made in the workshop, joins hidden behind a slat
  • Shadow gap at the ceiling
  • Optional LED wash from the top rail

Designed for the room: the panel can be wider or run corner to corner, the shelf can be a drawer unit, and the slats can be walnut, black oak or a painted colour on a felt of the same tone.

Built for everyday use: the slats are veneered on a stable core so they do not cup, the felt behind is fire-rated, and the panels are fixed through the backer into the battens, so a shelf, a screen plate or a picture rail can be fixed anywhere along the wall.

Manufactured in our Wembley workshop

The Hertford is made as numbered panels in our HA9 Wembley factory: the slats are cut and spaced on the CNC, glued and pinned to the backer, and the panels are labelled to a drawing of your wall, so the fitters hang them in order and the joins disappear.

The wall, the ceiling, the corners, the sockets and the switches are measured at your design visit, and the panels are drawn around them so a socket sits in a gap, not behind a slat.

Quality you can rely on: your Metro fitted furniture comes with a 10-year guarantee covering parts and labour.

“Excellent service from design consultation through to completion. Great value with superb quality fitted wardrobes. The designer - Nitesh - helped us maximise the available storage space without busting our budget. The crew led by Sandeep was very professional, meticulous in the build and left the house spotless. We selected the super matt finish which is a little bit more expensive but looks fantastic. Our bedroom is transformed in the best possible way.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Hertford Oak Slatted TV Wall Panel FAQs

What is the Hertford Oak Slatted TV Wall Panel?
A floor-to-ceiling pale oak slat panel set into a dark wall behind the television, with the screen on a hidden plate, the cables in a void behind it and a floating oak shelf beneath. It is made as battened panels in our Wembley workshop and fitted by our own team.
Where do the cables go?
Into a 50mm void behind the TV plate, then down inside the panel to the shelf, where the power and the HDMI come out behind the soundbar. Nothing is chased into the wall and nothing shows on the slats.
Does the panel have to be in the middle of the wall?
No. The Hertford is shown centred on the sofa with the dark wall either side. It can run corner to corner, stop at a window, or sit off centre where the room is watched from an L-shaped sofa.
Can the slats be a different timber or a colour?
Yes. Oak, black oak, walnut, ash and painted slats are all made the same way, and the felt behind is chosen to match or to contrast. Samples of the slat and the felt are brought to your home so the tone is chosen in your light.
What about sockets and switches?
They are measured at the design visit and the panels are drawn around them, so a socket sits in a gap between slats with a matching surround, or is moved into the skirting run by your electrician before we fit.
How long does it take to fit?
Fitted within 21 days of your order being confirmed, usually in a day on site. Our fitters set the battens to a true plane, hang the numbered panels, and fit any shelf, plate or lighting.
