Hever Over-Bed Wardrobe London

The Hever Over-Bed Wardrobe is the over-bed arrangement for a room that has one good wall and not much else. A row of four bridging cabinets runs across above the bed, a tall unit on the far side carries a built-in bedside chest, and the wardrobe proper — a mirrored sliding wardrobe — stands beside it, so the storage turns the corner without a second set of hinged doors swinging into the room.

The room shown is in Light Grey with slim black bar handles and a Cotta Cremona Oak interior. The mirrored sliding doors do the thing a small bedroom needs most: they put the window back into the room and make it look twice its size.

How it works: the bridging cabinets are fixed to the wall above the headboard and land on the tall bedside unit at one end and the wall return at the other. The bedside unit is a full-height carcass with a three-drawer chest at its base and cupboard storage above. The sliding wardrobe alongside runs on its own track and does not depend on the over-bed run for support.

Hinged doors are 18mm MFC slabs on concealed soft-close hinges; the sliding doors are mirror panels in a slim frame on a top-hung track.

This is the arrangement that suits a room where the bed has to sit under the window, because the bridge above the headboard does not block the light and the mirror opposite reflects it.

Everyday hanging goes behind the sliding mirrors, the bedside chest takes what you reach for at night, and the bridge above the bed takes the rest.

Making better use of the wall: the bed wall carries the bridge and the bedside; the return wall carries the mirror. Between them the two walls hold everything a bedroom needs, and the floor in front of the bed stays clear because nothing on either wall swings open.

Built for everyday use: 18mm MFC throughout, with a solid 18mm back, top and bottom to every carcass. The bridging cabinets are fixed through their own backs into the wall; the bedside chest runs on soft-close drawer runners.

The finish shown is Light Grey outside with Cotta Cremona Oak inside; the mirror can be specified in grey, bronze or silver tints, and other door finishes are available.

Manufactured in our Wembley workshop

Two systems in one room — hinged cabinets and a sliding wardrobe — have to be cut to meet each other exactly at the corner. Both are made in our HA9 Wembley factory from the same survey, so the bedside unit and the sliding wardrobe’s end panel are cut to the same height and line through.

The bridging cabinets are drilled on the CNC for their fixings and the bedside chest is machined for its runners before either leaves the factory. Edges are banded on industrial equipment.

The window, the bed position and the corner are measured at your design visit, before anything is made.
