Marylebone Slab Kitchen London

The Marylebone Slab Kitchen is a white kitchen with one warm detail. The base and wall units are white slab with slim black bar handles, and the wall above the hob, between the wall units, is lined with vertical oak slats lit from above, so the centre of the run glows. A dark stone splashback runs under the wall units, an oven tower stands at one end of the run, and a glazed display cabinet with lit shelves stands at the other, beside a pair of black steel-framed doors.

The finish is white slab with black bars, the oak in the feature panel picking up the timber of the dining chairs, and the dark stone splashback grounding the white.

How it works: the base units are made-to-measure carcasses with slab doors on concealed soft-close hinges and pan drawers on full-extension soft-close runners, with black bar handles drilled to one setting-out. The slatted panel is oak slats on a black backing board fixed to the wall between the wall units, with an LED strip in the underside of the unit above lighting down the slats. The oven tower houses two ovens at eye level; the display cabinet has glazed doors and lit glass shelves.

The return is a short run of base units with the sink under the window and a worktop that turns the corner.

Designed around a room that opens to the garden

With glazed doors on one wall, the kitchen is seen from the garden as much as from the room, which is why the Marylebone keeps the run calm and puts the interest in one lit panel and one glazed cabinet.

Designed for the room: the slatted panel can be widened to fill the wall between the towers or narrowed to the hob, and the display cabinet can become a larder where storage matters more than display. An island fits in a wider room.

Built for a working kitchen: the slab fronts are a matt white on 18mm board that wipes clean, banded on every edge, and the oak slats are sealed so the panel behind the hob can be wiped. The carcasses have solid 18mm backs.

The Marylebone shown has a run of about 4.2 metres with a 1.8 metre return. The same pieces are drawn to your room at the design visit.

Manufactured in our Wembley workshop

From the survey of your room, the Marylebone is cut in our HA9 Wembley factory: the beam saw sizes every carcass panel, the CNC drills the hinge and runner positions and the handle setting-out, and the edge-bander finishes every visible edge in white. The slatted panel is cut and spaced on the CNC to the width of the wall it fills, and the LED channel is routed into the wall unit above it.

The oven tower is built to the models you choose and the display cabinet glazed and wired in the workshop before the run leaves.

The room, the garden doors, the services and the appliance models are noted at the visit, and the run is scribed to the walls and floor when fitted.
