About This Style

The Pelham Walk-In Wardrobe turns the alcove off a bedroom into a dressing nook. Walnut open bays carry box shelves above, lit hanging in the middle and shoe cubbies and drawers below, and the run turns under the window into a dressing desk, so the walk-in takes no floor from the bedroom it serves.

Crafted from 18mm E1-grade board in a walnut woodgrain on solid 18mm backs, with an LED strip down every divider, walnut-lined shoe cubbies, full-extension soft-close drawers and a desk return, the nook is built to your alcove, your window and what you own.

Every walk-in wardrobe is made to measure in our Wembley, North London workshop and fitted by our own team. Backed by a 10-Year Parts and Labour Guarantee.

Walk-In Wardrobes

Pelham Walk-In Wardrobe

The Pelham is the walk-in for a bedroom with an alcove: the walnut runs are built into the recess, open to the room, so the dressing space is there without a door or a wall, and the bedroom keeps its floor.

The finish is a walnut woodgrain throughout, with boxes on the high shelves, clothes on the lit rails and shoes in cubbies at the base, so the nook reads as a lit display rather than a cupboard.

How it works: the runs are 600mm deep on solid 18mm backs fixed to the alcove walls, divided into box shelves, hanging and shoe cubbies with drawers at the base, and lit by an LED strip down every divider on the room switch. The return under the window is a desk with drawers, lit from the shelf above it.

Designed around how you use your room

A walk-in is a set of zones, each sized for what goes in it: long hanging, double hanging, folded shelves, shoes, drawers and the things not worn this season. Your designer counts what you own at the design visit and divides the run around it, rather than repeating one bay along the wall.

  • Built into the alcove off the bedroom
  • Box shelves above, hanging in the middle, shoe cubbies below
  • Handleless soft-close drawers at the base
  • Dressing desk return under the window
  • LED strip down every divider
  • Walnut woodgrain throughout
  • Solid 18mm backs fixed to the alcove walls
  • Made to your alcove and what you own

Designed for the room: the nook can close with a pocket door or glazed doors, the desk can be a dressing table with a lit mirror, and the walnut can be any of our woodgrains or a painted colour.

Built for everyday use: every run is 600mm deep, the width of a coat hanger, on a solid 18mm back fixed to the wall, so the shelves stay level and the rails carry a full load; the drawers run on full-extension soft-close runners and the lighting comes on with the door or the room.

Manufactured in our Wembley workshop

Your Pelham is measured on site and manufactured in our HA9 Wembley factory. The beam saw cuts each panel to its own size, the CNC drills the shelf, rail and hinge positions, and industrial edge-banding finishes every edge an open bay leaves on show, so the run arrives as one matched set.

Every walk-in is measured and designed around your actual room before manufacture and professional installation.

Quality you can rely on: your Metro fitted wardrobe comes with a 10-year parts and labour guarantee, giving you added confidence in your investment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Pelham Walk-In Wardrobe FAQs

What is the Pelham Walk-In Wardrobe?
A walnut open walk-in built into the alcove off a bedroom: box shelves above, lit hanging in the middle, shoe cubbies and drawers below, and a dressing desk return under the window. It is built to your alcove in our Wembley workshop and fitted by our own team.
Can it have a door or a curtain?
Yes. The Pelham is shown open to the bedroom, which is what makes the nook feel part of the room. A pocket door, a pair of glazed doors or a curtain track can close it where the bedroom is shared.
What if my alcove has no window?
The desk return becomes a dressing table with a lit mirror on the end wall, or a third run of hanging. The nook is drawn to the alcove you have.
How much room does a walk-in need?
A single run needs a room 1.5 metres wide so the rail is 600mm deep and you can still stand in front of it; two facing runs need 2.1 metres; an island needs 2.8 metres or more so there is 900mm of floor all round it. Your designer checks the room at the visit before anything is drawn.
How is it lit?
Vertical LED strips down the dividers light the full drop of each bay, with downlights in the top of the deeper bays. The strips come on with the door or the room switch, in warm white, white or yellow.
Can I choose a different finish?
Yes. The same run can be made in any of our woodgrains or painted colours, with open bays, glazed doors or solid doors on any part of it. Samples are brought to your home so the finish is chosen in the room.
How long does it take?
Your 3D design and itemised quotation arrive within two to three days of the home visit. Once you confirm, the furniture is made in our Wembley workshop and fitted within 21 days, usually one to two days on site; a full dressing room can take a day longer, and the date is agreed with you at the visit.
How the space is divided

The Six Storage Zones

A walk-in is not one big cupboard — it is a set of zones, each sized for what goes in it. These are the six we build from, with the dimensions we actually work to. Your designer combines them around what you own rather than filling the run with a single repeated layout.
01
Double hang PELHAM OPEN WALK-IN
Two hanging tiers stacked in one bay. Each gives 950mm of clear hanging under an 18mm shelf, so the pair occupies 1936mm in total. It suits shirts, trousers, folded-over skirts and jackets, and it is the single most effective way to increase what a run holds — the same width of wardrobe carries twice the garments.

02
Full hang
The same 1936mm module as a double hang, used as a single drop of 1918mm clear beneath the shelf. This is where dresses, long coats and suit carriers go. Most rooms need far less full hang than people expect — two or three bays is usually plenty, and the rest is better given to double hang.

03
Drawer bank
A 600mm-high bank holding three soft-close drawers at 200mm each. Drawers are almost always specified at waist height rather than low down, because that is where you want the things you reach for daily — folded knitwear, underwear, belts and watches — without bending.

04
Open shelving
Shelves are set at 250 to 300mm apart as a minimum. A folded jumper wants 250mm; a stack of jeans or a handbag standing upright wants the full 300mm. Closer than 250mm and the shelf stops being usable for anything but paper-thin items, which is why the spacing is worth getting right at the design stage.

05
Shoe storage
Flat shelves at the base of a run, each with a raised front lip so nothing slides forward. Keeping shoes low leaves the eye level of the wardrobe clear for clothing, and the lip means a shelf can be shallow-set without anything tipping out when you pull a pair from the back.

06
The 600mm run
Every Metro walk-in run is 600mm deep, and that figure is not arbitrary — it is set by the width of a coat hanger, so anything shallower makes clothes sit at an angle and crush against the front. Two facing runs therefore use 1200mm of floor before anyone has walked anywhere, which is why two facing runs need a room of at least 2.1 metres across, and 3 metres to feel generous.
