About This Style

The Sandringham Over-Bed Wardrobe fills a whole wall in terracotta matt. Towers and a bridge wrap the bed, the slatted headboard panel is lit from the bridge with lit niches either side, bedside drawers are built into the towers, and the run turns the corner into a fitted dressing table with drawers and a mirror.

Crafted from 18mm MFC in a terracotta matt finish with matt black bar handles, the run uses concealed soft-close hinges on a solid 18mm carcass, with the bridge fixed to the wall and supported by the towers.

Every over-bed wardrobe is made to measure and manufactured in our Wembley, North London workshop using precision CNC machinery. Our team manages everything from the design consultation to professional installation.

Backed by a 10-Year Parts and Labour Guarantee, the Sandringham shows what a single strong colour can do when the whole wall is one piece of furniture.

Over-Bed Wardrobes

Sandringham Over-Bed Wardrobe

The Sandringham Over-Bed Wardrobe is a made-to-measure bedroom storage system in a single strong colour, taking one wall from the dressing table at one end to the far tower, with the bed in the middle.

Full-height towers stand either side of the bed with drawers built into the base, the bridge spans the headboard, and an LED strip under it lights the slatted panel and the niches beside the pillows. At the window end the run returns into a dressing table with drawers and a mirror, made from the same board.

How it works: the doors are 18mm MFC in terracotta matt on a solid 18mm carcass with a balancing face on the back, so a coloured slab stays flat. Matt black bar handles run vertically on the towers and horizontally on the drawers; concealed soft-close hinges are fitted throughout.

Fixed as one run: the bridging cabinets are designed as part of the complete fitted run. They are securely fixed to the wall and supported by the full-height wardrobe towers on either side, rather than functioning as independent cabinets simply suspended above the bed.

Designed around how you use your bedroom

An over-bed wardrobe needs to balance everyday storage with the less frequently used space above the bed. We therefore design the internal layout around what you need to store and how often you need to access it.

  • Single and double hanging rails
  • Full-height hanging for dresses and coats
  • Adjustable shelving
  • Soft-close internal drawers
  • Shoe storage
  • Pull-out accessories
  • Over-bed bridging cabinets
  • Storage for bedding, luggage and seasonal items
  • Integrated bedside storage
  • Built-in dressing table or desk where the wall allows
  • Integrated LED strip lighting (warm white, white and yellow)

“We found Metro Wardrobes on the internet and without a personal recommendations we were a bit worried. However, they fitted beautiful wardrobes in two bedrooms. Good finish in a short time and clean and tidy fitters. Price was better than anywhere else we got a quote from. Would highly recommend.”

“Hiren and Ajay very professional and efficient service. Finished the job on time and very well made. Left the space clean. Will 100% use them again! Thank you”

Vladimir LondonGoogle review

“I was very pleased with my wardrobe fitted by Metro. By having a custom design I could have exactly the spacing and layout I wanted. They came out to me so we could match the colour to my existing inbuilt wardrobe. Any changes I wanted in the design Mike was quick to do and send me updated previews. It also came in considerably cheaper than a well known wardrobes brand. A couple of snagging issues as you'd expect, and other than some mild chasing I had to do they put it right and all was good. I'd happily recommend them.”

Sandringham Over-Bed Wardrobe FAQs

Sandringham Over-Bed Wardrobe FAQs

What is the Sandringham Over-Bed Wardrobe?
A full-wall fitted run in terracotta matt: wardrobe towers and a bridge around the bed, a lit slatted headboard panel, bedside drawers, and a built-in dressing table with mirror at one end.
Do I have to have the dressing table?
No. The dressing table is part of this example because the wall was long enough. On a shorter wall the run finishes at the tower, or the dressing table can be a desk instead.
Is terracotta the only colour?
No. The Sandringham is shown in terracotta matt, but the same run can be made in any of our 90-plus finishes. Your designer brings the sample books to the design visit.
How long does it take?
Your over-bed wardrobe is manufactured at our Wembley factory and installed within 21 days of your order being confirmed.
Is an over-bed wardrobe safe above the headboard?
Yes. The bridging cabinets are engineered as part of the fitted run, fixed securely to the wall and supported by the full-height towers on either side, rather than hanging from the wall alone. Soft-close hinges are fitted as standard throughout.
Where are they made?
Every piece is handmade in our own factory in Wembley, North London (HA9), and fitted by our own employed installers, never subcontracted. Every installation is backed by our 10-year guarantee.
Edge Detail

The Three Over-Bed Edge Details

On an over-bed run the edges are where the towers meet the walls and where the bridge meets the towers. These are the details we work to. Your designer specifies them at the survey, once the wall and the bed position are known.
01
1mm ABS Square Edge SANDRINGHAM OVER-BED
The standard edge on a flush slab: a 1mm ABS band in the same decor as the face, applied by machine and trimmed square, so the door reads as one flat piece with a crisp line at its edge. It is the edge on the bridging cabinets of every over-bed run, where a row of small doors wants the cleanest possible line.

02
2mm ABS Softened Edge
A thicker 2mm band with the corner softened to a small radius. It shrugs off knocks better than a square 1mm edge, which matters on the doors and drawer fronts at bedside height — the ones opened every night — and on any tower door a child reaches. Specified per door, so the bridge can stay square while the bedside goes softened.

03
Scribed Wall Edge
Where a tower meets the wall or the ceiling, its end panel is cut to the line of the plaster at your survey and then banded, so the wardrobe closes against the wall without a filler strip. On an over-bed run both towers are scribed, and the bridge between them is made to the gap that leaves — which is why the whole wall has to be measured before anything is cut.
