Garrick Bespoke Media Unit

The Garrick Bespoke Media Unit gives the living room two focal points in one wall: the television, and an electric fire set into the base directly beneath it. Around them a grid of open cubby shelves carries books, baskets and objects, and a drawer sits at each end of the base with a small knob.

The arrangement shown is in Graphite Grey, a deep warm grey that lets the fire and the lit shelves do the work, framed by walnut-toned slatted panels on the wall either side.

How it works: the Garrick is built from 18mm E1-grade MFC as a shallow wall at 400mm deep, with the TV recess and the fire opening cut to the sizes of your screen and your fire. The cubby grid is set out from those two openings, so the shelves are sized to the wall that is left rather than the other way round. The fire sits in a lined recess with its own ventilation and cable route.

The drawers run on soft-close runners; the rest of the wall is open, so there is nothing to open in front of the fire.

Designed around your TV and living space

A wall with a fire in it is the room’s hearth, and the Garrick is planned so the seating faces both the screen and the flame.

Built around your television: the recess is made to the screen you own, with the soundbar shelf beneath it and the fire below that, so the three line up on the centre of the wall and the cubby grid is symmetrical about them.

Keeping the living room organised: open cubbies keep the things you want to see at eye level and give every basket its own hole; the two drawers take the remotes, the chargers and the things that otherwise sit on the sofa arm.

Built for everyday use: 18mm MFC with a solid 18mm back, top and bottom, fixed to the wall — a shelf grid loaded with books needs its own structure, and the fire recess needs a back that is not the plaster.

Manufactured in our Wembley workshop

A cubby grid shows every millimetre, so the Garrick’s uprights and shelves are cut on the beam saw in our HA9 Wembley factory and drilled on the CNC to one grid, and the TV and fire openings are cut to the sizes taken at your survey.

The fire recess is lined and cut for its vents and cable before it leaves, and every visible edge — and on an open grid that is most of them — is banded in Graphite Grey on industrial equipment.

The wall, the screen, the fire and the seating position are measured at your design visit, before anything is made.
