Montrose Bar Unit

The Montrose Bar Unit is a wet bar. A sink and tap sit in a white worktop between two banks of drawers, a lit upper cabinet above holds the glasses on brass rails and the spirits on shelves, and tall cupboards stand beside it for the stock — all in Basalt Deep Dark Grey with Trafalgar cup handles and brass bars, in the open-plan room shown.

The dark grey doors, the white top and the warm light in the upper cabinet read as a piece of furniture rather than a kitchen run, which is what a bar in a living space has to do. Inside, the carcasses are Slate Grey.

How it works: the Montrose is built from 18mm MFC on 18mm solid-back E1-grade carcasses, with the base run cut for the sink and the tap and the worktop fitted over it. The upper cabinet is fixed to the wall above, lit by an LED strip along its top edge, with brass hanging rails for stemware. Doors hang on soft-close hinges; drawers run on soft-close runners.

A wet bar needs a water feed and a waste, so the base is planned around the plumbing on the wall it goes against.

A wet bar changes what a home bar can do: glasses are rinsed where they are used, ice is dealt with at the counter, and the kitchen stays the kitchen.

Designed for serving as well as storage: the worktop is the bar counter, with water at hand and the glasses hanging above it. A coffee machine sits on it in the morning and a cocktail shaker in the evening, and both are cleared into the drawers when the room is needed for something else.

Built for everyday use: 18mm solid-back carcasses, with the sink base built to take the plumbing and the worktop cut and sealed at the sink. Cup handles and bars are solid brass; drawers are full-extension soft-close.

The Montrose is planned to your wall and your plumbing; the arrangement shown is one open-plan room, and yours is measured before anything is made.

Manufactured in our Wembley workshop

A sink base is cut for its plumbing before it leaves. The Montrose carcasses are cut on the beam saw in our HA9 Wembley factory and the sink base, the worktop cut-out and the tap hole are made to the sink and tap you choose.

Drawer runners and hinge positions are drilled on the CNC, the upper cabinet is routed for its LED channel and drilled for the brass rails, and every visible edge is banded in Basalt Deep Dark Grey on industrial equipment.

The wall, the water and waste positions, and the room’s sightlines are measured at your design visit, before anything is made.
