The Pembroke Home Office is the fitted study for a whole room. Seven and a half metres of Dust Grey shaker cabinetry turn the corner of the room shown: tall cupboards at one end, wall units over a marble-effect splashback, a desk that returns into the room in Natural Casella Oak, and a run of lit, glazed display cabinets with shaker cupboards beneath them along the second wall.

The doors are shaker in Dust Grey with knob handles, the interiors and the desk top are Natural Casella Oak, and the glazed cabinets are lit from within so the books and objects on show become the light in the room in the evening.

How it works: the Pembroke is built from 18mm E1-grade board with a solid back, as a series of carcasses planned to the two walls: full-height storage where the wall is blank, wall units and a worktop where you sit, and the display run where the room is seen from the door. The desk return is a separate top in oak that projects from the wall run so two people can face each other across it.

Doors hang on soft-close hinges; the glazed doors have the same shaker frame with clear glass in place of the panel.

Designed around how you work

A study on this scale is planned like a small office: a working wall, a storage wall and a display wall, with the desk where the three meet.

Designed around your working position: the desk return puts you in the middle of the room with the wall units behind you and the display run to one side, so paperwork, reference and equipment are all within a turn of the chair. A second person sits opposite on the same top.

Keeping your workspace organised: the tall cupboards and the base units take everything that needs hiding; the glazed cabinets take everything worth seeing. Between them the desk top stays clear, because the Pembroke has more closed storage than most kitchens.

Built for everyday use: 18mm carcasses with a solid 18mm back on every unit, including the wall units, which are fixed through their backs into the wall rather than hung on brackets.

A run that turns a corner has to meet itself exactly, and a shaker run shows every misaligned rail. The Pembroke’s carcasses are cut on the beam saw in our HA9 Wembley factory and drilled on the CNC from one survey, so the door rails, the drawer fronts and the glazed frames line through around the corner.

The shaker fronts are machined individually, the glazed frames are cut for their glass, and the oak desk return is cut and banded as a single top. Every visible edge is finished on industrial edge-banding equipment.

Both walls, the ceiling and the corner are measured at your design visit, before anything is made.
