MFC — melamine-faced chipboard — is the universal cabinet board of the European furniture industry, produced to the same exacting specification by the leading European board mills: a stable chipboard core with a hard-wearing melamine décor face fused to both sides. Every Metro door and panel is machined from premium E1-grade board in our own Wembley workshop — cut to your exact sizes, with each edge banded in the same colour — so the door face, its edges and the carcass all read as one material.

Face, edge and carcass share the same décor. Because we band the edges ourselves, the edge is the same colour as the face — not a near-miss from a different supplier.

About This Style

The Harriet is designed around the wall with the bedroom door in it. Rather than stopping either side of the opening, the run bridges over it with storage, so the wall above the door becomes part of the wardrobe instead of dead space.

The elevation mixes storage types rather than repeating one door: a five-drawer bank for folded clothes, an open shelving column at the end and full-height hanging either side of the opening. Flush slab doors on 18mm MFC, slim black bar handles and soft-close hinges throughout.

Harriet Hinged Wardrobe

The Harriet is designed around an awkward wall — the one with the bedroom door in it. Rather than stopping either side of the doorway, the run bridges over it with storage, so the metre of wall above the door that is normally lost becomes part of the wardrobe.

How it works: the doors are flush slabs on 18mm MFC with slim black bar handles. The bridging units above the door are built as separate shallow carcasses carried on the tall units either side, which is what allows the run to cross an opening without anything visible supporting it.

The rest of the run mixes door types rather than repeating one: a five-drawer bank with horizontal bar handles, an open shelving column at the end, and full-height doors either side of the opening. The black handles tie the different elements into one elevation.

Built for everyday use: every element is built as its own 18mm solid-back unit in premium melamine-faced board to E1 Grade. Around a doorway that matters — the units either side are carrying the bridging storage above the opening, so they have to stay square under that load.

Your wardrobe is made to measure and precision-manufactured in our HA9 Wembley factory, from the design approved at your home visit through to the finished components. Building over a doorway leaves no room for adjustment: the bridging units have to land exactly on the tall carcasses either side, and the architrave has to be scribed around rather than covered.

Every component is machined from the approved digital design by intelligent CNC and 6-side drilling, our beam saw optimises the board usage, and industrial edge-banding provides a consistent finished edge.
