Portland Fluted Bedside London

The Portland is the bedside for a room with texture on the walls: its fluted fronts pick up a slatted panel or a fluted wardrobe door without repeating them. Two deep drawers take the books, the chargers and the things that live beside a bed, and the black bar on each gives the white front a line.

It is made to the height of your mattress top, which is the one dimension a bedside has to get right, and to the width the wall beside the bed allows.

How it works: a solid-back carcass on a recessed plinth with two 16mm solid-sided drawers on full-extension soft-close runners, the fronts fluted on the CNC and lacquered, the bars fixed through into threaded inserts. A cable slot in the back panel takes a lamp lead and a charger.

Designed to the bed

A bedside is measured from the mattress, not the floor. Its top should sit level with or a little above the mattress top, so a glass and a phone are reached without looking; the Portland is drawn to that height at the design visit, usually 550 to 650mm.

Designed for the room: the bedside can be made as a pair, wider with a third drawer, floating on a wall rail, or in any painted colour to match fluted wardrobes in the same room.

Built for everyday use: the lacquer wipes clean, the flutes are shallow enough to dust, and the top is banded on every edge so a glass ring can be wiped off.

The Portland is cut, fluted and sprayed in our HA9 Wembley factory, with the drawers fitted before delivery.
