Door Construction

Inside the MFC door

MFC — melamine-faced chipboard — is the universal cabinet board of the European furniture industry, produced to the same exacting specification by the leading European board mills: a stable chipboard core with a hard-wearing melamine décor face fused to both sides. Every Metro door and panel is machined from premium E1-grade board in our own Wembley workshop — cut to your exact sizes, with each edge banded in the same colour — so the door face, its edges and the carcass all read as one material.

Why this build matters

One board, one colour

Face, edge and carcass share the same décor. Because we band the edges ourselves, the edge is the same colour as the face — not a near-miss from a different supplier.

Cut in our Wembley workshop

These are not bought-in doors in fixed sizes. Every door is cut in-house, so it is made to your opening — any width, any height, no filler compromises.

A proven, stable board

The melamine face is scratch- and moisture-resistant over a core that stays flat — the same board specification trusted across the European furniture industry.

Hinged Wardrobes

Fairview Hinged Wardrobe

The Fairview does three jobs in one elevation: wardrobe, media wall and dressing table. A television sits in a lit recess in the middle of the run, a vanity niche with a full mirror sits at one end, and the rest is floor-to-ceiling storage in a woven textile finish.

How it works: the doors are flush slabs on 18mm MFC E1 Grade in a textile-effect decor. The texture is embossed into the surface in register with the pattern, so the weave you can see and the weave you can feel line up — the detail that separates a textured board from a photograph of one.

Putting the television inside the wardrobe run removes the bracket, the trailing cables and the black rectangle on the wall. The recess is lit, as is the vanity niche, so both openings read as designed parts of the elevation rather than holes cut into it.

Designed around how you use your room

Because the run absorbs the television and the dressing table, the bedroom needs less freestanding furniture. Depending on your design, the Fairview can include:

An integrated, lit TV recess
A dressing table niche with mirror and drawer
Cupboards below the television
Long-hang sections for coats and dresses
Double-hang runs for shirts
Adjustable shelves
Shoe storage
Storage above the hanging rails

Built for everyday use: the carcass is an 18mm solid-back unit in premium melamine-faced board to E1 Grade with the textile finish carried inside. Soft-close hinges matter on a knob-handled door, where the natural motion is a push rather than a controlled pull.

Manufactured in our Wembley workshop

Your wardrobe is made to measure and precision-manufactured in our HA9 Wembley factory, from the design approved at your home visit through to the finished components. A media recess has to be machined, not cut on site — the ventilation behind the television, the cable route and the lighting all have to be set out before the carcass is assembled.

A textured decor also has a direction, so components are cut and edged with the emboss aligned rather than rotated to save board. Industrial edge-banding applies a matching edge, and intelligent CNC and 6-side drilling machine the hinge and shelf positions.

Every wardrobe is measured and designed around your actual room before manufacture and professional installation by our own fitting team.

Quality you can rely on: your Metro fitted wardrobe comes with a 10-Year Parts and Labour Guarantee.

Where We Work

Serving London & Surrounding Areas

A media wall needs decisions made before manufacture — screen size, where the cables run, how much light you want over the dressing table. Your designer works through all of it at the home visit with the textured samples in the room, and we build to that in Wembley.

Frequently Asked Questions

Fairview Hinged Wardrobe FAQs

Can a television be built into the wardrobe?

Yes — the Fairview has a lit recess sized for the screen, with the cable route and ventilation machined into the carcass before it is assembled. It removes the wall bracket and the trailing cables.

What size television will it take?

The recess is made to your screen, so the size is set at the design visit rather than chosen from a standard opening. It is worth deciding before manufacture, because the recess cannot be enlarged afterwards.

What is the dressing table section?

A niche at one end of the run with a full mirror, integrated lighting and a drawer, sized so a stool fits underneath. It is part of the wardrobe rather than a separate piece of furniture.

Is the textured finish harder to clean?

No. It is a sealed melamine surface, so it wipes down like any other board. The emboss is shallow — enough to catch light, not deep enough to hold dust.

How much does the Fairview cost?

From £5,800 including delivery and installation for a comparable layout, including the media recess and dressing table. Your exact price is confirmed in writing after the free home design visit.
