MFC — melamine-faced chipboard — is the universal cabinet board of the European furniture industry, produced to the same exacting specification by the leading European board mills: a stable chipboard core with a hard-wearing melamine décor face fused to both sides. Every Metro door and panel is machined from premium E1-grade board in our own Wembley workshop — cut to your exact sizes, with each edge banded in the same colour — so the door face, its edges and the carcass all read as one material.

Josephine Hinged Wardrobe

The Josephine gives up one end of its run to a dressing table. A desk top runs between a three-drawer bank and the wardrobe carcass, with cupboards above it, so the whole thing sits inside the elevation rather than standing out from it — and the doors continue floor to ceiling either side.

How it works: the doors are flush slabs on 18mm MFC in Cashmere Grey U702 ST9. The desk top is cut from the same board and carried on the carcasses beside it, so nothing supports it from the floor and there is clear space for a chair underneath.

Brushed brass round knobs are used throughout — on the wardrobe doors, the desk drawers and the cupboards above — which is what makes the dressing table read as part of the wardrobe rather than as a separate piece of furniture.

Designed around how you use your room

The run holds clothes at one end and a working surface at the other, and the two are planned separately. Depending on your design, the Josephine can include:

Built for everyday use: the carcass is an 18mm solid-back unit in premium melamine-faced board to E1 Grade, finished in the same Cashmere Grey inside. The units either side of the desk carry its top, so they are doing structural work as well as holding clothes.

Your wardrobe is made to measure and precision-manufactured in our HA9 Wembley factory, from the design approved at your home visit through to the finished components. A desk built into a wardrobe run has to be machined as part of it — the top, the carcasses carrying it and the cupboards above all come from one digital design so the working height is right and the top meets both sides flush.

Our beam saw optimises board usage, 6-side drilling places every knob fixing so they sit on a true line across the run, and industrial edge-banding applies a matching Cashmere Grey edge to the desk top and every visible component.
